Hi! I'm new to godot specifically but I have programming experience and can design great code architecture. I can also help with version control and building team-specific custom tooling if that interests you.

Education background is Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering dual degree from undergrad.

I am actively developing skills needed for technical artists, (rn I'm practicing 3d sculpting/anatomy) but I have a "little" bit of experience with pixel art. I have aseperite so i can make placeholder sprites for any systems I design.

My discord is soure0879, dm me if you are interested.

Hi! I'm SoureDev and wanted to delve further into game dev and get some experience working in a team. I'll be volunteering my time. I will  keep detailed documentation for any of my contributions in case the project isn't for me and I choose to leave. I can only volunteer 6-8 hours a week, barring life stuff happening. If a team requires a heavier time commitment, faster turnaround, or commercial deliverables, I'd be happy to discuss a work-for-hire/contract arrangement.

About me!

Education: Recent CS/ECE Dual Degree Grad looking to join a Godot team (or renpy if you think my skills would be helpful to you, though its less so my preference. Give me your project pitch!)
Core skills: Programming, some systems logic, Git, Linux, basic networks, and custom scripts

Engine: Brand new to Godot and some experience with Renpy. I have some experience with Unity from High School. but I'm generally not that interested in the engine.

Hobbies: I eventually want to make an 3d anime style game, so in my free time I've been practicing basic blender modeling, some core art concepts, and music theory. Only started doing so this month so not game ready imo, but I could probably make a simple standin assets if need be.  I hope to develop decent skills as a technical artist.

What can I probably do for your team:

Build game systems, logic, and custom gameplay mechanics

Help setup clean Git workflows, versioning, proper backups, and helper scripts

Learn new systems/create custom graphics shaders/work with GDscript (I am a newbie at this but would love to learn)

In particular I have interest and some experience in working with OS-level shenanigans. I love fourth-wall breaks from games like undertale/DDLC and custom window effects like those in Rhythm Doctor.

Recent Project I did in renpy:

I designed a custom child subprocess written in Python that ran with renpy games. I wanted to implement cool window overlays and animations like those in rhythm doctor but have it work with the renpy system.  It launches alongside the game to generate transparent OS desktop overlay windows that sync directly with the game state. I built it using a stateless, data-backed rendering system so it stays fully compatible with Ren'Py’s rollback system without breaking animations, scaling, or interpolation. It could render sprite animations, backroungs, interactable elements, and more. Info between the subprocess and the renpy game was managed with port Sockets and event driven to improve performance. I got quite far in development but dealing with renpy rollback was getting more and more difficult. I love renpy games but wanted more control/power over the engine, hence my recent interest in Godot.

What I'm looking for:

Looking to join a small team or anyone with a interesting/strong project pitch. I'd love to help build robust systems, interact more with GDscript and custom shaders, make custom tools/scripts for the team. Leave a reply below if you think I might be a decent fit for your project. If you want to get into more details about your project, my discord user is soure0879 and send a friend request. (Note: I'll be a bit busy today so responses might be delayed!).
