Damn are there no good endings or do I just make really bad choices? This game is so well written, you do a great job developing characters, just through your words, and the images are a great addition. I just want the little birds to be happy. I think some sound design would be a great addition to your game, if you revisit it
the time variables are super effective, especially with such a spooky game!! I played through it twice (and finally won). The first time, I ended up with a whole bunch of candles, and I stabbed the guy in the bedroom, but there was no game over/win/lose screen so I restarted. I also noticed a loose "]" at the end of once of the win screens, but other than that, it was super well made and fun to play!!
The simple formatting really works with your writing style, I cant wait to see the illustrations! One viability crit I would give is that I felt as though I didn't really have an objective; I played through a few different times for a few different endings but I didn't know which ones were the good or bad endings, or what the ideal ending would even be. All I knew is that the killer ending was apparently bad, but I had no hint of that until the end; it sort of came out of nowhere, at least on the path I took.
The backgrounds are so cool! It can get a little hard to understand at times, with the different fonts and link colors. And there was one point where before we knew the guitarist's name, one of the options is "that's a cool name" or something like that. I clicked it as a joke, since I didn't know their name and now I'm stuck playing the game with no idea who the heck this dood is. Also, if you ask them what song they're playing, they reply "yes." The art was really cool tho, and it was fun to play :)
Ahh, it ended just as I was getting invested!! This is such a fun concept, I'd love to meet even more monsters, and have even more options to pick from at the end. Maybe I just fumbled the bag with X-droid and Gorilla-Tron, but it felt like the only real option was Beelzebug. It'd be cool to have a little more control as a player, or at least feel like control.
The art is really cute, and benefits the story! I felt like there was a good path, and an objective for the player character to meet with lots of options along the way. There was one point where I reached a screen that said "are you ready to create your potion?" and the options are "village, library, garden, and yes!". Is this a coding error or was this intentional? Other than that, everything else ran really well!
The character designs are so cute! I wish I had a little more autonomy as a player character, I felt as though once I made one choice (which person to talk to) I didn't really have any other choices other than good answer/bad answer. The characters also have really similar arcs; it'd be interesting if the characters behaved differently after you spoke to them the first time, instead of all taking you to their studios, and going to the fair.
