Oh man there's so many!
Any of the LoZ games but especially A Link to the Past and Wind Waker, Super Mario Bros 1 & 2, Pokemon Blue, Harvest Moon, Star Fox Adventures, the list goes on!
What about you?
Ugh, I loved this so much! It gave me such a warm, nostalgic feeling. You did a great job with this project. I really felt like I was reliving my childhood and visiting all the old games I used to play. The art is also really well done and I can see how much time went into it. Great job!
Oh that's awesome!! I'm glad everything worked out!
Haha, I know how you feel! Once you figure out how to use Bitsy it can be quite addicting! I've made three games myself since finding it.
Good luck in your endeavors and definitely share your game once you're done! : D
Hey there TC! Definitely not silly questions, any software is weird to use in the beginning!
So, for your first question, you would have to put the dialogue as a "list" which you can do in the dialogue panel. There's also options for how you want the dialogue to appear (randomly, in order and then stopping at the last one, in order and then cycling through them again) so pick whichever suits what you need best! In your case it should be "sequence."
For your second question: yes! This is possible through the avatar by room hack. https://github.com/seleb/bitsy-hacks/blob/master/dist/avatar-by-room.js If you're not comfortable with putting the code in yourself you can always use Borksy to help you out! http://andrewyolland.com/borksy/
However, I believe it's in need of some updates so if you plan to use more than one hack they may not work together. Luckily, the hacks themselves are pretty detailed on how they need to be coded in so even if you're a someone with little programming experience (such as yours truly) you should be able to figure it out!
I hope any of this information helps! Good luck!
Managed to fix whatever was making it do that! If you were at all interested in seeing the game through to the end as it was meant to be played, it should be running as intended now uvu Either way, thank you again for including it in the video, that was really nice!
Oh wow! That's super nice of you but it looks like it glitched out in your video somehow D :
The very ending dialogue somehow played right after the instructions and THEN went to the actual opening unu I'll have to take a look and see why it's doing that.
Thank you for including it regardless though!
You could try the permanent items hack? https://github.com/seleb/bitsy-hacks/blob/master/dist/permanent-items.js
I've never used it myself but it's aim is to make items remain after they're interacted at with.
Alternatively, depending on what you hope to achieve, what you could do is have an invisible item infront of a sprite that reads out the text you want initially triggered and then after that all that's left is the sprite which will say whatever you want it to say afterwards.
The transparent sprites hack would help if you took that route.
Hope either of these methods are useful! Good luck dude!
Hi there Adam!
I've just made my first Bitsy game and would love to be added to the list!
These are some areas in the game jic it piques anyone's interest uvu
