thanks for the advice. we’ve been trying to inform the player of all the countdowns in a more subtle or immersive way that isn’t just showing numbers on the screen. so we tried using sounds like candles burning, clocks ticking down, and an hourglass pouring. but it seems like the game still lacks some visual cues that more clearly connect with the sounds.
(i) was designed to use candles, but it seems like letting the programmer (which is me) handle the visuals isn’t the best idea haha^^
appreciate the feedback! \we also worried that the countdown theme might go unnoticed, since we couldn't add more ways to remind the player that the "door" blocks are only opened for a limited time by their matching key, which then starts a countdown before the deadline. as a result, the countdown theme may not have come across as clearly to you. other than that, whether through brute force or not, we're happy you gave it a try!
