Doesn't seem to work on M1 mac

Hey stereo,

PSP will definitely be added as a target in 2024.

The rules may seem slightly arbitrary for now, and they are, because they are still being ironed out. There is a possibility that this jam is going to be split into a very-retro jam and a kinda-retro jam.

You can use any hardware or software made before 2003.

About 3 and a half weeks.

Unfortunately, the decision was actually made to remove ALL fantasy consoles from the approved platforms list. I apologize for waiting a week after announcing a jam to make this choice. Please check the jam page for the updated platform rules - they should be a bit clearer.

No, these are PSD files only.

Probably end of March or mid-April.

Not created within jam time span.

Not created within Jam time frame.

Unfortunately no, Scratch does not fulfill the requirements of being hardware-limited or comes from the pre-2005 era.

You are right - it should. We will accept Flash games.

still chugging along 🙃

Thanks!

Hey Elvies,

To be considered for judging you'd have to submit something by the deadline. You can always add more to your game later, and in the discord we always love seeing progress, but what gets judged for this jam has to be submitted before the deadline.

You might also look for a "memory wait" option in the emulator. ( ウェイト) without this on it doesn't play at hardware speed.

seat safety switch is maintaining this for now, I managed to get it to work after adding the PC-88 bios files to ~/quasi88/rom

https://github.com/barbeque/quasi88-port/releases/tag/v0.1-alpha

Set the emulator to V1 mode, if possible. V2 / H mode can be considered "hard mode" :D

After the jam, I will add a version with extra lives :)

I tried, but I couldn't get it to actually work. Let me know if you can figure it out :(

Good news, my friend, I managed to build QUASI88 and upload a MacOS 64-bit build. Let me know!

Thanks for giving it a shot.

I will open up the MacBook and see what I can do tonight!

Oh no! I didn't realize. According to this, XM8, X88000 and Quasi88 are compatible with Mac, but I'm not sure how that's tested. Do you mind downloading the Linux versions of them and try those?

I have a Mac, so I can try compiling one of the other emulators myself in a few days.

Thanks!

Awesome work on the scanner sombre style shader

Some people said it couldn't be done, but here it is.

The successor to Wizardry 7.

probably the best pseudo-random momentary-counter-action micro-rpg there is

I've been putting this off for a while, but I decided that if anything was going to get done, it had to be public.

After reading the summary, you may be questioning the themes and plot of the game. A good question.

Like any author, I put a lot of myself into my work. In the case of ILLSAVIOR, I will be putting too much. Mental health has crippled me for much of my life, and I wanted a medium with which to express the lasting effects of all sorts of psychological traumas - both on the characters and the world around them. Blobbers are one of my favorite genres, and C64 is a great system to design for. It all fell into place.

Discussion rules:

  • Be civil. Be good to one another. I will delete anything I find inappropriate.
  • Once the game is released, don't post spoilers unless clearly tagged in the topic title.

Finally, I will need testers. Please contact me via itch if you are interested.

Sure, as much as you like, just link my itch page or Twitter or something

Hi,

I've tried loading this game on NTSC hardware with SD2IEC with no luck. Once it gets to the World 1 Stage 1 screen, it freezes. (Same behavior in VICE).

Is this game still NTSC compatible? Thanks ^_^

They were all amazing!

It's the bee's knees!

Tic-80 also supports Brainfuck.

Why would you ever use Brainfuck? You wouldn't, but the option is there.

65xx is super fun, a less hair-pully-outy version with scripting support and no silly limitations (eg no indirect addressing with x register and what-not) sounds exciting to me. :)

Maybe not that difficult, using a modern assembly-like language like this:

No more than a few hours.
