there's a walkthrough

Yeah I agree. That's why minigames track your score and answers, I wanted multiple endings (at least 2) but just didn't have time for any more and just quickly put this one together (in the last hour lol). I might do an post jam update though

Pretty fun game! I enjoyed it. Only critique I have is most of the levels I could have just go to the end with one of the characters and then I'm locked from 3 sides so I can very easily move the other. Only the last level was a bit more difficult.

The art is really good

Thanks for playing and for the opportunity to do weird and unsettling horror once again!

thanks again, it was nice to watch ;)

so cool! I used some of them in my newest game "THE DOPPELGÄNGER". Are these all from real vhs you have or how it's done because I'd love to replicate this effect

The game look really good, sound is also very fitting. Gameplay is interesting with the phases and different interactions, but one problem I have is that I don't know how do you win? I mean how are you suppose to know which one is the Doppelganger? I tried making making them rest, barking, but I'm not sure how it works, I have too little information to choose, only randomly guess.

Most of the time I didn't know why or how i died so some indication would be nice to have, like a death animation. I got to i think 11 (not sure because you can't see your score after death). Other than that, cool little game 😉

haha thanks so much! it was a fun game to work on

I really enjoyed this one! Nice weapon and enemy variation. Good game!

Peak audio and voice acting lmao. Maybe mosquitony should rotate to where it's going? Also some indicator to when the wave will disappear. Overall pretty fun game!

Cool and interesting mechanic. I'd introduce new frequencies later in the game and not all at once. Separate buttons for each frequency instead of switching them would be better I think. Maybe the echolocation circles should be a bit brighter and the points shouldn't disappear when swiching frequency but stay there and slowly fade away like normal. Overall good game that can be improved and expanded if you want ;)

Looks really cool. Some way to speed up the game would be nice because it's way to slow and quickly gets boring (when you have a perfect wave and just have stare at it). I liked the simple tutorial in the menu. Maybe more but shorter levels would be better? Overall good game.

Cool art style and concept, hovewer there should be more feedback for player when doing things or maybe even more expanded interactions, because at first I didn't really know what's happening. And I mean just some basic things like visible fishing line, visible fish on the table. Also it's very laggy when colliding with objects, maybe look into how to optimize it. Keep going!

I added links on game page under "Credits"

Thanks!! Wave scroll speed actually saved but something must have broke in the final build, and I wanted to add reset button but then forgot about it lmao. Glad you liked it! I really enjoyed making this one

Thanks! I tried level 11 and set square phase to 0 and it worked. Just a bug I didn't know existed

Hi! I've been using Unity for over 2 years now, but been making 'games' even before that. I can do all the programming and everything in the engine itself, so it's ok if you don't know Unity. All my previous games are on my itch profile.

So my plan is basically a game set inside someone's computer. Maybe it belonged to a lost person and you have to find out what happened? Look through files, decode, find hidden messages and clues, analize photos and videos, etc. Just an idea tho. I just really like the fake desktop setting recently and actually made a similar game before, here it is:
https://shadoweeq.itch.io/solitude
but this time I want it to be much better, espe ially the story, but also the puzzles.

I'm looking for someone that can write a good story that's actually interesting and makes sense. Also a 2d artist for all the desktop stuff, maybe a more retro style but we can think about it. Any sound designers are also welcome!

Wow! So much feedback!! I'll try to fix as much as I can, some of these are bugs and some I just dind't implement lmao (like the settings). Score is calculated using tasks accuracy, in each task you can get 0-100, and total max is 500 (#1 place), so doing 5 perfect coding minigames should give you 1st place in Gameplay. But for example the Object Settings minigame splits the score and adds to both Gameplay and Art, so it's a bit more complicated.  I'll definietly update it soon!

you have to quickly close all errors and watch out for troll pop-ups which clicking wrong results in blue screen. You just have to survive until timer reaches 0

Music minigame is a bit bugged and and counts as completed from the beginning, that's why it doesn't show you anything. But yeah, glad you liked it :)

Thanks! I'm suprised it turned out that great, apart from slight rating bug. And yes ratings are based on how many tasks you completed and their accuracy

Really fun game!
I love desktop simulator games (I also made one some time ago 😆). Minigames were fun. Only problem I had was one time I got negative time remaining, idk how that happened. Also pickle was nice 🐢

Yeah, I totally agree. I made it for a jam and didn't plan on doing a tower defense, I wanted something more story-focused with mining, but I just didn’t have the time. As for the mouse aiming, I initially had it shoot in the direction the ship was facing, but it felt too annoying, and I didn’t want to redo the whole movement system at the time. I might do something more with this game in the future 😉

No problem, just wanted to know :)

Hey! I've been working with Unity for the past 2 years (but making games for even longer). Made some games for game jams, you can check them on my itch profile. I've mostly been a solo dev, so I can do pretty much anything, but I'm looking to team up and meet some cool people to create something awesome together!

I'm especially looking for someone that can write a good story, so a game designer. Artists and sound designers are welcome too! I can do the programming. Also, I'd rather do 3d than 2d.

Hi! I really like this idea! I'm a Unity programmer so if you'd like to use Unity instead, I can help!

So much feedback! Thanks!

It was actually a "pass the game" jam where the next person continues to work on the game, I was 3rd. It made it into day 6 (last) of the jam and many people decided to build upon my version so now theres a few "final" Octaliens. Here's a cool website showing how all games branched and Octalien being the biggest one https://vykri.com/pass-the-game-2023/

You can play all of them here https://itch.io/jam/day-6/entries

Some may fix your issues, some may not ;)

Fun, simple game! I enjoyed it. Hook upgrade was cool, and yeah, music is a bit repetitive. What happened to the shark tho? 😆

Cool game, but a little un-responsive, sometimes I couldn't pick anything or would be nice to be able to put something back if you missclicked. Also next time set UI to 'scale with size' 😉

Great game, I enjoyed it! Somehow level 3 was way more challenging than level 4. Man, those rats are crazy. I like how Walter White is buying crystal in some random kiosk 🤣

Thanks! Every sound has some pitch variation and most have a couple of different versions of the same sound

Thanks! I think it's the best ui I've ever made

Thanks for playing, and for the jam! I'm gonna try to update this game! See you at the spring jam!

maybe you typed too many commands, it's a bug, idk why it does that
