You only need the fire button to select options in the menus (along with pressing left or right). During the race, fire isn't necessary; you only need the joystick directions to move the car. Keep in mind that the car activates after the practice lap.

FIRE 2: Start the game.

STAGE 1: Use JOY UP and JOY DOWN to dodge the oncoming cars.

STAGE 2: Use the joystick to collect each key. Every time you pick up a key, one of the walls is unlocked, allowing you to rescue a hostage.

The controls are very simple: 100% two-button joystick. No keyboard is required.

I don't do ports (at the moment) but I have focused on adapting 40-year-old homebrew games to the GX4000 console with PicoGX/C4CPC   or CPC/CPC+   with M4, games that can only be played using the classic CPC keyboard.

If you're using WinApe, the problem might be due to using the 464+ ROM, because the game is Basic 1.1 (the one used by GX4000) and you should use the 6128+ ROM. This is just to rule out errors.

This is a feature I added so that if you have infinite lives and get stuck, you can perform a "Call 0" by pressing F1+F2 simultaneously to restart the CPR ROM on the GX4000/Pico GX. While the game can be played on a CPC with an M4, it's designed for the GX4000. If this option proves inconvenient, I can disable or modify it in future updates.

It's weird... I played this morning and got through the level by collecting all the keys, in no particular order (I used infinite lives). Shouldn't it be Screen 0? You start with Screen 1. Are you using an emulator, and which one? Are you using infinite lives? It's weird, really weird.

Fixed! A small bug from the original game still prevents proper screen progression after collecting all the keys. I played the new CPR and was able to advance to screen 2, though not without some difficulty because I'm not a good player. Thanks a lot for the heads-up.
