It wasn't a funny joke. Jokes can be criticized too, you know.

yes, there are suggestive character designs, but a lot of triple a game dev companies utilize them subconsciously. suggestive character designs don't mean that a game is a erotic/pornographic one.
don't take this as basement dweller/incel/redpill/alt-right rhetoric, i have no interest in trying 2 save games from healthy explorations of identity n sexuality, but it is baffling to me how you can label this an erotic game when the only thing thats erotic about it, imo, is the character designs.
imo it's like calling an rpg game an action game just because it has gunfighting. while, yes, gunfighting is a feature in a lot of action titles, it's not an inherent quality in the action genre, and it doesn't mean that the rpg in question is an action title.
am i bugging? maybe i'm missing something or wasting my time here, but if you label this an erotic game, when the only thing erotic about it is the character designs, and you yourself don't see it as a pornographic/erotic game, then why are you labelling it that?
imo the writing on this is too simplistic n lacking depth for me to be invested. i get yu want to avoid purple prose, but this dialogue reads like one ov those stock image myon books yu read in middle school
the lesbophobia isn't helping, either. (theres a part that stereotypes lesbians as man-haters. i get that ozaki studios aren't/isn't a lesbophobe, n that it was probably juz bad wording n characterization but we gotta watch out for bigotry in game developers namsayin?)
1. i'm not saying yo have to spend fucking days laboring over a single game. i'm not saaying that you have to be jon brion. i'm just saying: you should make the soundtrack not just the same theme repeated over and over again.
2. reviews shouldn't be only positive. i think that game developers should learn how to take constructive/negative critique, because it can help them grow as creatives. as long as they're civil, it's good critique.
a game with a trolly premise taken seriously, with a plot where nothing but the act of catching fireflies and then going home happens.
like. nothing happened. i was half-expecting dr doofenshmirtz to come along and fuck shit up, but i've seen both this and the fanfic that it was based off of: it's just uneventful. like that's not inherently bad, i like a lot of uneventful games, The Longing being an example of one. however, this was just... boring. It reminded me of Gerry, a movie where two dudes lost in a desert wander aimlessly for most of the time.
Catching Fireflies is the Gerry of visual novels.
plus like, i was expecting this game to be stealh satire, like what Nyan Neko Sugar Girls was, but... nah. this was serious. The artstyle, the dialogue adapted into fangame form, etc... No indication of satire was found. The soundtrack was oddly repetitive as well. like i can understand having motifs/lietmotifs, in-fact i'm a huge proponent of that, but it shouldn't be the same theme played in different forms.
no disrespect to the developer by the way, i'm sure they put a lot of effort into it, and i respect that. it's just.. wow.
