HEY EVERYONE THE NEW POST-JAM VERSION OF THE GAME IS OUT!!! AHH!!
https://saturnnstar.itch.io/astro-runner-post-jam

I'll be updating it when possible as bugs are reported or if changes need to be made!

Post your High Scores here!

Thanks for playing! Thanks for your feedback as well! In the post-jam version we're working on there are currently 16 room variations rather than 4, and we're aiming for 20! And skid jumps have been given tighter input requirements. Thanks a ton for your input!

Thank you so much!!  I'll make sure to allow Jumps to skip the opening cutscene in the post-jam release, thanks for letting me know!

AHHH!!!

Thank you so much for all of your support!!!

This was so fun! Bobbing and weaving around the ghosts felt great and strategic, and the characters were very cute :) I think if I were to give some critique my main point would be that it is a bit hard to tell where you are and what you need to do when the game starts. Having the player be emphasized in some way when the game first starts, as well as an arrow showing the player where to leave the screen after all of the carrots have been collected would already make a big impact for a player's first impressions. Really great overall though!

Very cool game! I really like the art and its fun trying to stay on the run as long as possible. My only main critique would be the warning signs being offset to the side with the arrows pointing at the lane the obstacles will come from was a bit visually confusing for me at first.

This game's presentation is INCREDIBLY impressive, I love how much attention to detail you payed to each part of the UI. The story is engaging, and the 2 unique endings gave me a reason to replay and try to play better on my second go! My biggest critique is probably the pacing of the game, since the iconic Dodgy Detective has a pretty slow movement speed and checkpoints are somewhat far apart for the speed the player character moves at. I do appreciate the ability to skim through dialogue on replays though!

I love the effort you all put into the presentation with the main menu and loading screen! It was a great first impression! I really love the idea behind needing to run away from the power-ups too, it was very unique! I did find it a bit hard to aim at the enemies, though, with them moving towards the left while you need to move towards the right side of the screen. Maybe if the enemies stayed to the right of the screen and piled up over time it would be more consistent to try and hit them? Also at the moment it seems like you can ignore most of them, but the game is definitely more engaging when you take the time to attempt to defeat them

WOW!!! You're unstoppable! Honestly this is such a good video for playtesting reasons It's good to know the infinite generation held up for 15 minutes straight! We are working on the post-jam tweaked version of the game and one thing I do want to do (aside from fixing some physics issues and adding QOL) is make the game's difficulty ramp up a bit more rapidly. It's been so cool seeing how long your runs have gotten but I bet it's gotta be a bit exhausting when they take that long!

That's awesome omg!!! It's so cool to see your gameplay! Thanks a ton for sharing it :)

Lol no worries!! Pumped to see a run of yours if you get to record one! You have no clue how happy it makes us knowing you've been enjoying the game as much as you have!

YOOOO!!! You're insane I still can't get higher than 16K lol

We do want to!! May just be a bit since we both have a lot going on with college at the moment. It's great to hear that you're looking forward to one though!

So happy to hear that you're enjoying our game!!! Thanks so much for playing!

I would love to do a global leader-board but didn't have the time, feel free to update your high score here though so others can compete!!

(1 edit)

Hey Pam and Jam Pumpkin Light 2 Viewers, I was one of the playtesters for this game back in the 90s and its still holds up!!! I know I'm biased but I like the game so much that I bought it instead of accepting a free version from the dev, and plan on playing it a ton on my own and with friends. Give the game a shot and you'll love it!!

Thank you for the response!! You have no clue how motivating thatis for us to hear!! We'll definitely let you know about any help we may need when the time comes! It's great hearing how much playtime you were able to get out of our small demo!

Thank you so much! We're working on more already and wish we had the time during the jam to add more to the level. (Even with the backtracking mechanic it is still pretty short!) Glad you liked the concept!

thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Once you grab the Sparkly Thing you need to escape the level with it and jump into the void (since we didn't have the time to make an ending) so it was supposed to be about the before and after of grabbing it, where after the fact you needed to escape with more angels attacking you. We're already working on a full version so we are glad you want more!

We totally are!! Progress is probably gonna be slow, but we're already planning how to progress the gameplay going forward :) We just watched your stream and are so happy that you enjoyed it! This is our first game together! (Zac has made some small projects before and Aliyah has never worked on a game until now but has had a lot of art experience!)

Neat idea! We had some difficulties with images not loading or pages skipping, but the art was really nice when it showed up, and the music was great!

Cool game! Loved the art and speeding up a ton in the driving sections was a fun challenge :)

This was so cute! I'd love to see where you go with it if you ever did want to continue it!

I love the main mechanic! This game was really cool :) Neither of us could beat the legend that is Tartholomew, but it was fun regardless!

This was really fun! Jumping on the vines can feel a little tricky at times, but we really enjoyed the overall idea! Having to memorize the other timeline before platforming was really interesting

We had a really fun time playing this! Love the story reason for gambling and the setting!

This is such a cool concept! I love how polished the sounds and extra details are, like the way the objects move a lot. The puzzles were all very good ideas but we did struggle a bit with how short the timers could be on bigger objects. This was awesome! :)
