Oh damn I thought there was something like 10 layers, I saw some mushroom and plant stuff in a shop and was like holy shit there must be so much more lmao. Gonna still be really cool once i make it to jungle tho.

It's also definitely gonna have a lot of fun when i do move on to V5. Even though it’s a little more complicated for me now that i have less time i still love hard games with complex mechanics like this. Its also always cool to have more real medical knowledge burned into your brain by trauma, so more of that will be fun to find lol.

This game really is amazing. I haven't moved on to the newer version yet, as I foolishly thought I would do so once I succeeded in this one, but even in the current version I'm in, the game is just so incredible and amazingly expansive. I think this may well be my most played game on the entirety of itch.io, with my logged playtime from death screenshots being upward of 57 hours with 24 casualties so far, but I've still not even made it past the fourth layer lmao.

There are so many items, so many different locations to find and interact with, a million different mechanics to learn, but the absolute best part of it all is definitely the astounding immersion in pain and suffering. The shit you experience here hits you to your core. The throbbing pain effects fuzzying confusion effects and greying depression effects all fit in to the game so incredibly well. You aren't just watching a character be in pain, shock, or confusion, it feels like you’re the one experiencing it yourself. Combined with the fact that other than recipies, nothing saves between runs, and you end up completely and utterly focused on everything happening in the game for hours on end. I mean, I'll never forget when I first played the game. I played for hours on end, and within the first hour, I realized my eyes were watering up a ton, but I couldn't figure out why. Eventually, I figured out it was because I WASN'T BLINKING. You learn to deal with the crazy situations you end up in slowly, but honestly I still find myself reaching those levels of focus even now, depending on the situation.

The music is absolutely amazing. If the dev composed this themselves, then it is unbelievably impressive, because even just the environmental tracks I've heard so far are all just so good, with each one also just flowing with compositional creativity. Not to mention the mood setting "music" for when things are going to fucking shit, which really just sets the tone so well while keeping perfect immersion. The art and style of the game is great. The pixel art looks good, the huds are all clean, and there is just nothing about it that would make me complain.

I could honestly write so much more and I wanna finish it so bad, but I unfortunately got like zero time for myself right now, got too much work and little opportunities to engage in the long play sessions. Super excited to get back to it eventually though, especially when there's even more of this amazing content to see.

some things transcend language

Hello there, looking for a team to collaborate with and make an excellent submission. I'm just looking around for a team right now, so I might just end up joining one I see, but if anyone is looking for additions let me know.

In terms of my skills I've been making games for a few years at this point. Only one I've got to show on itch right now is my first one (Jump Frog) but I've been fiddling with various systems for my other games a while longer. Whatever it is, if it has to do with C#, unity development, tilemaps, level design, or anything in between, I'll probably know a good bit about it.

True. But for me its just that it was called semi-idle in the game's description, so I thought this would mean that there would be a good amount of time spent waiting or tabbed out, and while this is sort of true, the way the game played out for me definitely flipped my original expectations. That's fair to point out though, I only noticed the incremental label after I had written out the final paragraph, and at that point I was like eh, works well enough.

I definitely would agree that this isn't an idle game tho, the sort of merge of idle waiting mechanics and all this crazy incremental stuff was what ended up being so cool about the game.

Just finished the game to 100%, and honestly, I really liked it. The story and worldbuilding of the game is all just so interesting and fun to uncover, and the gameplay is honestly quite satisfying and relaxing. Like, I know this is supposed to be an idle game, but I spent almost no time at all tabbed out from the actual game. Maybe a couple times during long waits, but otherwise I was playing the entire time, which is honestly impressive considering I've got around 20-25 hours in this game now

I think that what this game does so well at is using its resources effectively. Even though you could've just as easily made it so that there was no wait time between any actions, after playing the game, I can say for sure that would've taken away so much from this game. With all the waiting for every action, you have plenty of time to ponder on the information you've received while also thinking about the actions you're going to take, which honestly does take a lot of thinking about; even with all the moments of waiting, I'd say easily over 50-60% of the time I've spent in this game was paused, thinking about/reading plot developments or trying to plan the best way I can use my limited time. This all comes together to make it so that the primary gameplay in Terraformental literally is thinking, making it a really relaxing experience to play, and with enough "gameplay" to never bore you.

Talking a little more about the waiting stuff, I do really also like how it puts value into every action you take, making the rewards for completing them feel better and the longer ones actually feel more daunting, especially when this waiting is paired with rapidly dwindling resources you constantly have to manage, decreasing more and more with every second spent.

And to mention the game's plot one more time, it is honestly just so excellent. Another great thing about all this time spent waiting is that, when combined with all of the descriptive text provided, you really get a good chance to get a clear mental picture of the the places you visit, the objects you use, and the things that are happening. I'm not gonna make any claims that this is better than if there was some ambience or basic visuals, but I still have to appreciate how the game's plot and visualizations are like that of a well-written book.

Finally, to talk about the conceptual main mechanic, the time loop stuff is also just great. It felt really compelling to keep unlocking new more efficient ways to complete actions while also making as much progress as you could in as many Persistent actions as possible to continue progressing through the game while also unlocking even more completely new actions and paths at every location you go to. I also liked how the starting actions were balanced out, where you would always need to dedicate a considerable amount of time to repeated actions at the beginning of a loop once it resets, as well as all the things you need to do to get back to where you were in the previous loop. For me it added a lot of value to the time I had in a loop, and made it so that I really was always fighting against my limited resources with all my might, just to get a little more time in, though it also made it very satisfying whenever I figured out/unlocked new ways to make the versions actions and journey's to other locations much quicker.

I mean honestly, this is just a really great game. I'm impressed by how relaxing, satisfying, interesting, and fun it all came out to being even with such simple gameplay, and I'm certainly very excited for the future updates and eventual completion of this excellent game. Huge thanks to ShadyGames for making all this, and a good luck to the rest of its development!

For me I beat the ending on my first try, but I'm pretty sure its only because of beating GAR-TYPE and general long-term experience. I will say though, I like how the gameplay is structured, where its cool that there's no shift in controls, you're still just moving your mouse and clicking things, but now there's just danger. Maybe similar things could be added as minor danger in menus or similar things would play out in combat scenarios. I mean full honesty, I liked the conclusion and thought it was a fun shift, but I can imagine how it might be a bit of a shock if you haven't had any experience with mouse dodging before. Other than that I mean just keep doing what you're doing. There's obviously no substance to the ending at the current moment, but I'm excited to see where the story will lead when the full game is out!

It's pretty clear this game was directly inspired by Kittens Game(looks like its actually inspired by A Dark Room, whoops. never played that one unfortunately, but my points here seem to apply all the same), a game I used to use a lot of my free time to play a while back. However, I think for me, the main problem I had with Kittens Game was that although it was fun and pretty interesting, without any graphics or polish at all it just became a little too dull, and I ended up giving up on it after a while for this reason. For me, this game is a brilliant improvement to the things Kittens Game had, adding all of the polish it was missing and innovating new features that make it so much more fun and unique.

The gameplay is really, really fun, and incredibly addicting too. I mean, I wouldn't say it's at a complete state right now, but even at this point, the progression was just so satisfying. Constantly managing your workers was really fun. It was always just so gratifying to keep rebalancing the distribution of your people to produce more of a specific resource, more of the resources needed for that resource, and so on. It was honestly just satisfying as hell to see your production of certain resources keep skyrocketing to new, much higher levels, and it made it feel really good to just keep playing more and more. Not to even mention Soulstones and Singularities. That entire section of the game became so interesting, because suddenly there's all this stratagy you need to think about, where now you are the main producer of all your resources and benefits rather than the distribution of your people, but all the different things you managed were simple and a lot of fun, with you constantly moving on to new stratagies and abilities with the charms mechanic. I mean, honestly, there were multiple moments in my playthrough where I would just check the clock and realise I had just been playing for fourty minutes to two hours straight, fully concentrated the entire time. To say it one last time, the gameplay is just so, so fun.

Going over the other various parts of the game, the story and tone of the game are really good. The diary entries you got and all of the various descriptions you got to see added a lot, and even though there were only a few, I liked the choices of trusting or not trusting and absolving or excecuting, it made things more interesting and I can appreciate that. The music is great. It's high quality, simple but effective, and has well made switches between different tracks, especially when going to the Darkness tab. The art is pretty good, and every creature or icon that is drawn has a lot added a lot to itself. The SFX is also well made, adding a sort of auditory visualization to every action you take, even if its technically just clicking a button, and the UI is simple but effective, using various basic effects to supplement the tone of various interactions.

Overall this is just a really great game. The good gameplay combined with the interesting story and good polish made this game just so compelling to play, and even as just a demo, it's already surpassed any other idle game I've played. I'll definitely be excited to see the full game release. Good job to TinyTakinTeller and the rest of the people working on the game, and good luck to them with the rest of development.

Edits: Just started reading the devlogs turns out its actually inspired by A Firelit Room man that threw me off lol. Turns out Kittens Game came out a year after the former in 2014. Unfortunate I've never played it before, it actually looks pretty good.

The concept is great and the execution is excellent. Deserves a ton of Steam wishlists, amazing job!

Played this game today, very fun for sure. I never really properly played a bullet hell game, but I had a lot of fun with this one. I think the Pico-8 engine was used really well here, and everything felt very complete, and also quite fair. It also had plenty of challenge which was definitely fun to get past, and the final boss was very good.

Played this game today, it was just crazy dude. Playing it start to end felt so incredibly satisfying. I went through the first seven levels with no deaths, but each one felt so fulfilling to complete. It was like every single obstacle took all of my concentration, and with the scale mechanic, I wasn't ever left with a moment to let my guard down. This ended up leaving me with an experience that was so incredibly fun, satisfying, and calming, that also had a nice bit of challenge near the end. I probably was only able to do this because I have so much past experience with games, but damn this game was so fun. 10/10

Nah I checked all of Devolver Digital's pages and all they've put out is two teasers for the game on Twitter without mentioning the name, so it looks like they're gonna shadow drop it the day of, which they have done before with other games. Guess that makes us part of the small group of people that actually know lol.

Dang it's actually insane how quickly you managed to finish the game. I had a ton of fun playing the beta, gonna be crazy to play the full release version loaded with quality content. Absolutely mental you managed to get published by someone as massive as Devolver Digital, gonna be great to have them to help with advertising. Took me forever to find any info on the game from them, but it looks like they've put out two small teasers for it on their Twitter, so I'm guessing it's gonna be shadow dropped. Pretty fun that it isn't even up on Steam or their website yet, this game's gonna get bigger than ever on Friday. Good luck with final polishing! Definitely super hyped for Look Outside 1.0, gonna be so much fun to play this game on full release.

Just as a quick summary of what I think about this game, I think it is absolutely really really good. The Garfield references and themed designs are excellent, the pixel art is amazingly stylistic and beautiful and the music is absolutely astounded, and the difficulty and gameplay are top notch. The mouse based controls are extremely satisfying to master, having you learn to move quickly but with intent to not take damage, the difficulty also being great, nothing ever being too easy. Not to even mention the effects this game uses, I absolutely loved the voice lines and animations present in the game, they absolutely add so much character and grandeur to the experience. The pixel art and SFX were also very nostalgic to me in a way too. Even though I missed the age these types of videos tended to come from, I reckon my incredible amount of time spent playing Cave Story and Galaga as a kid contributed to how refreshingly familiar it felt.

Genuinely cannot stress the incredible amount of fun I had with this game. Lumpy did a really good job making this, crazy this amount of fun and quality is free.

This game was short but it is very fun, I really love the style and idea of it. I gotta admit, it was a bit easy, but there's still a good amount of enjoyment to be had here, and I can definitely see the potential for the full game they're making. The devs definitely did a pretty good job.

Most relatable afternoon cleaning simulator I've ever played! Wish more games would cover the everyday problems we all face.

Ended up getting to play both Milk 1 and 2 for free due to a birthday promotion(thanks!), and I honestly have to say these games are really good. They're short, but they use their time effectively, giving you the very interesting perspective of how a mentally unwell girl lives her life. I can't emphasize enough how these games are just so.. interesting. Everything you see and hear from her doesn't make sense, but it all makes so much sense in the way it doesn't make sense. It all provides such a fascinating viewpoint by showing us the way thousands of people have to live their lives, and I think that that is something to appreciate. Also, just to get it out there, the animation in the second game is absolutely beautiful. I can tell they absolutely used the commercial success of the first game to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on animation, because the cinematics for Milk 2 are astounding, not to mention the excellent art. The different endings are a bit confusing to get in the second game, but it's still really really good. Would absolutely recommend both games to anyone looking for something interesting to play.

Damn I wasn't expecting you to reply, I don't even know what to say. Thanks for making such an amazing game!

Pretty great game. Did a really good job at building up dread, and the puzzles/mazes are a lot of fun. I certainly would recommend playing it. I think their only mistake for the ending, spoilers, was that they tried to stick to a realistic feel with sort of bad models, I think it would have been a lot better if they kept the computer explosion but made everything around you turn into polygons afterwards. Anyways yeah very good game, great job.

Absolutely excellent game. I've played for more than eight hours at this point, and I was never expecting to have this much fun. The story is honestly really interesting, the pixel art looks amazing and has great style, and the concept and environment had me completely hooked. The enemy designs are all extremely unique, and the horror design aspect of them is especially good. The game does an absolutely amazing job at introducing these horrors in suspenseful ways at the beginning of the game, and then brings out more unique ones as the game progresses to keep things from becoming bland. Plus the puzzles and gameplay you complete to progress to the end, is absolutely amazing. Finding and creating these four different logs of the phenomena was extremely fun, and I liked that you had to logically avoid looking at any of these logs for the sake of preventing your doom. Now I do have to say, it is very unfinished at this point, and I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't see any ending, especially since I had been absolutely sure I had all four correct items, which was really satisfying to finally achieve, but it's completely understandable considering that this game literally has only been in development for four short months. I mean, it is absolutely nuts that you have managed to create a game that left me hooked and having fun for days in just a few months. Bravo. Of course there's a bunch of other unfinished stuff, and a ton of glitches, but I still had a lot of fun, and every glitch and unfinished mechanic was forgiven in mind of its extraordinarily short development time. I'll be anxiously awaiting to buy a full release! (take your time tho devs, don't overwork yourselves)

Just finished this game today, it's really good. The concept overall is really fun, and the gameplay does a great job at making you stressed but at the same time requiring full concentration. The glitch effects are all great, and the horror does a great job while only using PNGs. The backdoors and other secrets are also super fun to find, I know you were supposed to get them mainly from another secret, and that fact is true for one of the backdoors, but I had a lot of fun finding the others too. The story is also great, there's a lot of interesting info and details to find, and the ending is simple but effective. I will say again the concentration this game requires of you is super fun, jumping from screen to screen doing everything perfectly is super satisfying, and high score runs are definitely really fun. It's crazy that this amazing game is completely free, would absolutely recommend playing it.

Played this four months ago, but I realized no one can actually see reviews, so I'm reposting mine here(light spoilers):

This game is truly, genuinely amazing. I was not expecting to find what is probably now one of my favorite games of all time as a random visual novel that's FREE. I played this for about three hours, but it sure uses its time VERY effectively. Vague spoilers ahead, but I love how this game does horror. Although you have this cat that is brutally murdering you and causing horrible things to happen, at the beginning, I still see a cute cat. These adorable feline friend interactions are littered all throughout the game, and even with the numerous horrible things happening to me I still just could not get over the fact that it still is a cat, and I still ended up cycling through every single ending of taking the cat home and trying to befriend it before I even got to the others. The fact that you can still hear it meow and do numerous cat things just makes me want to befriend it more, and even to the very end, when the tone had slowly and steadily shifted, when the cute cat noises were brought out it still would pull at my heart. The violence is 10/10 by the way, I love the numerous sorts of terrifying scenarios, and how you can even see the trauma of past endings leaking into your interactions, it's sick as hell. The title screen which you are taken to every time you get an ending does a great job at illustrating how I felt throughout the game, where at first you see a cute cat, and the more endings you go through the more deranged it gets, until it's finally DO NOT TAKE IT HOME. Fully mirroring how although it's a cat, your determination to befriend it in some way slowly switches to concentrate more on defying it and escaping, getting a good ending for yourself by any means. Although you want that from the start, it's crazy how the tone slowly shifts. And let me tell you, the story for this game was absolutely top notch. It had one of those answer all your questions part near the very end and it did not disappoint, some of the biggest plot twists ever. It is literally insane how good this game's story is. The ending was also absolutely bananas, it was kind of sad in a way seeing what ends up happening for the sort of first half of the ending. Though to briefly touch on the absolute final part of the game, man I have never had my face turn to pure happiness so quickly. Absolutely top notch game, the soundtrack can be a little basic at times but it is absolutely criminal this game is free, play it.
