Hello everyone,

my name is Sam and I’m starting an indie game project called Ashes of Empire.

Ashes of Empire is a narrative RPG set in 1800s London, during the industrial age.
The game focuses on social ascent: the player starts as nobody and gradually builds power, influence, and identity in a city shaped by poverty, factories, crime, disease, and political tension.

This is not a “save the world” game.
It’s about becoming someone in a corrupted world.

The core pillars of the project are:

  • building power (alliances, reputation, control, influence)

  • strong, morally ambiguous characters

  • meaningful choices with consequences

  • a dark, grounded historical atmosphere

At this stage, I’m forming a small team with a concrete goal:
👉 to develop a playable demo, limited in scope but complete, representing the tone, characters, and main systems of the game.

I’m handling:

  • creative direction

  • worldbuilding

  • narrative

  • overall project vision

I’m mainly looking for:

  • programmers

  • artists / character designers / illustrators

who are interested in working on a serious indie project with a clear vision and realistic goals (a finished demo, not a “dream MMO”).

This is not an immediate paid position, but a structured indie project aimed at building something solid: experience, portfolio, and a strong foundation for future development.
