Gotta love the dedication this dev has, developing, updating, sprite and map design and still takes the time to answer questions/comments
It should swap you to different party members. The only reason you'd get a game over is if those characters were both dead before they left the party. Make sure to always heal everyone before going to the next area.
Great game. Normally not into these games at all but i really liked this one!
