That’s why that movement felt so familiar, moreso if I always sucked at playing Flicky.

A game like Nier Automata or Souls game but with music. What a great idea.
The opening cutscene had the music volume way too high and the voice volume waay too low, so balacing should be a thing.
The gameplay is alright, as I wished for a brief in-game tutorial for the controls and the mechanics, moreso if the boss hit as hard as a Soulslike’s boss.
The writing is neat as well the drawing, even if the room of improvement is still there for the latter.
Keep it up with this game, though. You don’t see many games that has playing music as a weapon outside of the bard class in RPG games.
This game is a proper kusoge for how finnicky the whole physics and level designs are.
It has the charm of a budget license title and the ingenuity of a Sonic fan game from the 2000s.
The special stages can be quite nasty as you have to avoid your own farts while moving in a single dang direction. Good thing you can quit the level and retry until you done it, with the plus of respawing the special rings.
The Noid is lame and Pepe the Pepper has potential but does nothing, but at least the level design compliments both.
The plot is insanely stupid, which makes you forget the aggravating stupidity of certain parts in the game.
The extra content is only if you like getting blue balled or blue balling whoever wants to play Sonic 3’s special stages with an annoying gimmick on it.
6 out of 10: cook only if supervised.
Despite some techinal issues I had with the game due to my old PC, I’ve managed to play the demo and it was lit and lot of fun.
Granted, my WASD+Mouse skills were quite rusty and the charging the bolt kinda gave me issues due to timing, but I’ve managed to figure things out.
Looking forward for the compleate game.
I can notice the improvements since the previous demos, yet there are still few things that I have to adress:
-
the control scheme is uncomfortable, moreso if you have to alternate the dashes and the top hat throw. Change the buttons’ layout or add keybinding configuration.
-
no gamepad support
-
certain collisions works in a weird way, like getting stuck in certain platforms
-
no visible time, so there are no ways to tell how much time you have for a S-rank run
-
momentum gets messy on rails if you are hit while on top of them
-
no information if you already purchases the skin or not from the shop
If these are fixed, then the game can be great.
I’d like to appreciate the game, but it has so many different things that irks me gameplay wise.
- The knockback is insane, it made me stuck atop of a boss or knock me to bottomless pits, which kills any prospect for a long combo
- The enemies can blend with the scenery and they don’t have a clear animation for their bullets, therefore being too sudden and making a dodge impossible unless you memorize the exact timing
- hazards like spikes are blending wayy too much. Or the spikes are brown or the corals looks harmless
- the physics all around fells sluggish, like the bounce move not bouncing correctly or the jumping feeling underwhelming unless you have the electro power up or something
- the Wario Land-style of running is not really nailed, as running makes you vulnerable and the only way to be like that is spinning, but with a crappy limit that made the character dizzy. Add a meter like with the air dash or let me spam that
- the parrying is done poorly, even if it’s done like Pizza Tower. If you are afraid to spam that move, you can do either the following a) add a number of visible charges with a short cooldown b) add attacks that can’t be parried by having another type of colour flashing the enemies
- the dialogues moves way too fast in cutscenes. Slow down or let me skip them manually
- Three hitpoints is too much little in a game when you kinda have to get reckless and the safe strategy is counterefficient to the point system
- add a mean to boost speed, especially if you plan to have an enemy to run from
- anyway, the screen shaking from that challenge level kept doing when I left the stage and the main game
I know this is a demo, but I have to tell this before it’s too late. These suggestions and style are nice, but a bad or unpolished gameplay can ruin it permanently.
Thanks for reading it and keep it up.
I downloaded from the itchio page on Chrome browser and extracted with 7zip, yet I’m still getting this error before aborting the game:
############################################################################################ ERROR in action number 1 of Draw Event for object obj_logo_splash:
Trying to use non-existing surface.############################################################################################ gml_Object_obj_logo_splash_Draw_73 (line 65)
This demo is very promising. It manages to learn from the best lessons the Megaman X’s series has to offer, especially in term of mobility with the wall jumps and glides.
I wish there could be a visible enemy bar for more info during fights, as well more weapons and offensive abilities.
I liked the secret arena and the unlockables (despite getting almost an heart attack after unlocking the title screen out of a possible jumpscare).
Keep it up and can’t wait for this game to be compleated.
Hello. Hi would love to try your demo, but I’m keep getting this error everytime I try to launch the game.
What can I do? I got Win 10 on my PC

It was a fun demo, bot for the battle system and the concept.
Pretty sure this game would improve with better Backgrounds and clearer status’ symbols, but I’m sure there’s more pressing things than these.
Also, the meat shop owner is an Harvester’s reference, right?
Even if the jam was about people who cannot draw, the scenery was quite functional at being lovely (even if the city was full of backwater pricks), so you could understand why grandma loved that.
Thanks for making the game, even if it was short.
P.S. there is a bug when you answer wrongly at the quiz: the dialogues changes from italian to english until the quiz is done. A fix wouldn’t be awful.
