I’ve been working on a small prototype recently: Sacred Galactic Empire: Mothership Recovery.

It’s a top-down extraction game set inside a huge abandoned mothership. The ship is alive now. Its metal hull has grown into flesh, there are things moving in the dark, and somewhere deeper inside, it is connected to the Creator.

The current version is still rough, but the main loop is already there: go in, fight, search rooms, pick up materials and equipment, and decide whether to leave or keep going.

You can die very quickly if you get greedy.

There are limited bullets, weapon durability, backpack space, elites, bosses, rare drops, extraction tools, and permanent upgrades. If you fail, you lose the things you carried—but you still keep some progression, so every run should leave you with something.

I’m still figuring out what makes this game truly addictive, so if you try it, I’d really like to know:

  • Is it fun to keep going deeper?
  • Does loot feel worth risking a run for?
  • Is extraction stressful in a good way?
  • What feels boring, confusing, or unfair?

This is only the beginning. The Creator is watching.
