Hey everyone! 🎮

I'm an indie developer running RUNE LABS, and I've just launched my first community game jam!

THE LOST PS2 JAM

The challenge: Make a game that feels like a forgotten PlayStation 2 classic.

I've always loved how wildly creative the PS2 generation was. You had atmospheric survival horror games, experimental JRPGs, bizarre mascot platformers, arcade racers, strange gameplay mechanics, and some of the most memorable artistic directions in gaming.

But here's what I'm really curious about:

What does a PS2 game look and feel like to YOU?

Maybe you remember foggy environments and mysterious worlds. Maybe it's colorful anime-inspired characters, chunky 3D geometry, elaborate menus, or unusual gameplay systems.

I want to see everyone's interpretation of that era—not just recreations of existing games, but entirely new ideas inspired by them.

🎮 JAM DETAILS

  • Dates: October 23 – November 7, 2026
  • Grand Prize: $100 USD digital gift card
  • Entry: Completely free
  • Engines: Anything you want!
  • Genres: All welcome
  • Teams: Solo developers and groups welcome
  • Experience: Beginners encouraged!

You don't need actual PS2 hardware or technical knowledge of the console.

2D games are welcome too!

There's no mandatory polygon count, required engine, or prescribed art style. What matters is capturing your interpretation of the era.

🏆 WHY JOIN?

Besides the $100 grand prize, I want this to be a fun place to experiment, meet other developers, exchange ideas, and celebrate an incredible period of gaming history.

I'll also be checking out submissions and hope to showcase some of the creations through RUNE LABS, with the developers' permission and full credit.

Even a tiny five-minute game or one unforgettable level is welcome.

You keep full ownership of everything you create.

I'm funding the prize personally because I genuinely want to encourage people to make something unusual and creative.

I'd love to meet some fellow PS2 enthusiasts and indie developers!

And even if you don't participate, I'd love to hear:

What's one PS2 game that really shaped your taste in videogames?

Thanks for reading, and I hope to see some of you there!
