Thank you — this is exactly the kind of thing I hoped someone would tell me.

About the dark: you are right, and you caught it at the right moment. The brightness setting used to be almost useless — I measured it: at maximum it lifted the picture from 5 to 7 out of 255, which is no difference at all. Yesterday I widened the range. Settings → Brightness now goes far enough to actually see the corridor (5 → 29 on the same scale). If you downloaded before yesterday evening, re-download; if after, just drag the slider right. It should not cost you your eyes.

When you do finish it — tell me which of the three endings you got. Which one you land on depends on how many residents you stopped and talked to, and nobody has told me yet.

As for a sequel: first I want to find out what is broken in this one. That is what the demo is for — so thank you for the «a bit dark», that one sentence was worth more than the download counter.

You wake up on floor 3042 of a building that has no bottom. The stairs down are the only thing there is.

The core mechanic is looking, not running. Every floor may have something wrong with it — a poster with a word printed backwards, a door with no handle, a resident who doesn't breathe. You photograph it: what the film catches, the house can no longer keep. Miss too many and the house closes around you.

You can also knock. Some residents open the door and talk, and what you learn decides which of the three endings you get. There are no hints and no objective markers — knocking on every door is the game.

Twenty floors, twelve anomalies, three endings. About 20–40 minutes. Free, Windows, English and Russian.

Streamers: record it, monetise it, no permission needed — every sound in the game is CC0, so there will be no copyright claims.

This is the first thing I have finished, and the demo is out precisely so I can find out what is broken before I build the rest. Feedback on pacing especially welcome.

Trailer:

Dev here. Two things I would really like to know from anyone who plays it:

1. Which of the three endings did you get? Which one you land on depends on how many residents you actually stopped and talked to — most people do not realise that while they are playing.

2. Which floor made you stop walking? One of the twelve anomalies gets a reaction out of almost everyone I have watched play it. I want to know whether it is the same one for you.

Bugs, complaints, “this part dragged” — all welcome. I would much rather hear it now than after the full version is built.
