Love the twist on the classic prisoner's dilemma. Simple to get into and enjoyable!
Adding some sound effects (and music!) would've been great.
I personally don't see a reason to ever spare. If I spare and the other fights, I instantly lose. Feels like that should be more forgiving (maybe just take half my health instead). I think that adds a lot more startegy.
Really clever idea! Good job!
LOVE the concept! The execution is near perfect, everything felt polished! Love the art style, and the music fits great too. Being able to inspect items was a really cool touch.
Critiques: it took me a while to realize you have to find clues in the rooms to imprison someone. Making that clearer would help. Also personally not sure the pause/main menu UI fits the atmosphere.
Other than that, this was one of my favorites from the jam. Good job!
Really like this concept, and the execution is really good!
The art is cool, and the audio's great too!
My only critique: locking the game to just one new shapeshifter returning per run makes finding them too easy (thanks to the marking mechanic, which is one of my favorite features!). I purposely executed a random human just to test out having 2 shapeshifters, and it was so much more fun. It was a real challenge!
Either way, this was one of my favorites from the jam! Good job!
Like the concept, but I feel the execution could've been better.
Found a way to cheat the system: just stand in front of the main door and wait for the red bar to move. Since only one NPC enters at a time, it's easy to spot the real ghosts that way, which kind of ruined the gameplay.
That said, I also played it as intended, and it was fun! Really like the art style, and the music fit well. the ghosts turning slightly transparent was a nice touch.
Adding an outline around the NPC you want to kill would be a great addition.
Great job either way!
Great job! Really like the art style, especially the hand drawn assets. the animations look great too!
The idea is fun and well executed! Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the roles change every time you fail a level, which is really cool. Curious how you guys pulled that off if the roles are chosen randomly.
My only critique: switching between NPC dialogues means walking away and back, which gets annoying. A button to cycle through dialogues would've been nice.
Well done!
Thanks so much! Really glad the day to night transition landed well :D
Interesting to hear a different take on the spamming mechanic. Adding feedback would've been great. Will definitely take a look at that in the future.
About the abrupt start, you're totally right. We just ran out of time to add a buffer before it.
Thanks for the honest feedback, genuinely helpful.
The spamming E, as others have noted too, wasn't the best design choice. removing it makes sense.
As for the audio clues, we underestimated how hard they can be. Unfortunately due to time constraints we couldn't add any visual clues.
Thanks for playing and for the direct feedback!
Thanks for the detailed feedback! The spamming issue is a known design problem. It needs tuning, or might just get removed entirely.
As for the facial expression flicker, that was meant to be more of a red herring, but making it a real tell might've worked better.
Love the other behavior ideas you mentioned, like picking things up. We might add those post-jam!
Fun little puzzle game! Really like the concept. very impressive how much content you guys made in just a week!
My only issue: I think you can cheat the system meant to make other characters do unexpected things. I found myself spamming R to buy time, which meant I never actually ran into the unexpected behavior. Adding something to prevent that would be great.
That said, I also played it as intended afterward. Great job!
Finally!! Got to level 3 after 61 deaths.
Really like this game! Trying to remember the traps was fun. they were chosen really well.
Personally not a fan of not being able to touch already fallen objects, but that's more taste than critique.
Out of curiosity, what was the point of the shield? Was that also part of the rage mechanic?
Other than that, great job!
I love the concept! The dialogues were fun to read, and I love that the player chooses how to generate the map. The art is cute, and you picked some nice music. The ending I got was killing the grandmother by mistake, LOL!
Critiques: At first I didn't even notice the map in the top right. making it more obvious would help. I also couldn't understand the paranoia effect at first (cool effect, though), after reading other comments I got it, but I wish it were clearer in-game.
Great job either way!
It's a nice, simple game! I'm really curious how you procedurally generated the sound effects.
I can tell the AI isn't just random. it seems to follow some pattern, which is a nice touch.
Critiques:
As others have mentioned, this game needs some juice.
I still don't fully understand how the scoring system works — some explanation would help :D
The UI text also goes by quite fast.
Other than that, great concept!
Very cute game! Simple, yet really fun to play!
I enjoyed the story, and the art style is amazing! You mentioned you used HTML/CSS/JavaScript with no libraries. that's very impressive for a one week jam.
My only critique: the inputs were a bit tricky to use. Sometimes I couldn't pick up the objects when they were in front of another ghost.
Other than that, great job!
We'd love for you to try our game. Honest feedback would be appreciated :D
