Hey itch community, Resonance Games here with an exciting announcement!

After two years of slow-burn development, the team is proud to showcase its first public build of our rhythmic RPG: Rhythm in You!

The game follows the journey of our Hero as he explores a fantastical 2.5D world and unlocks the power of music within himself. The game features a unique battle system that gives agency to the player, allowing them to attack, block and gather rhythm to the beat of their foes' Soul Song.

The current build is the first representation of our Vertical Slice, containing the first chapter of what will eventually be the full game. While not each and every system will be included in the Vertical Slice, you can expect the tone and gameplay to be a solid representation of what's to come.

We'd love it if you played the build and gave feedback- either here on itch, or over on our Discord channel. We look forward to bringing more things Resonance to you all in the future, so stay tuned!

I should have mentioned this in my post, but the story blurbs I wrote are not scenes that you'll find in the game, so if you're worried about spoilers, I got ya ;)

That said, they do add some context to some of the stuff you've probably seen in the Alpha Prototype, so I totally get it if you want to keep it all a mystery!

It's really good to see such positive feedback at this early stage. We have identified some areas of improvement just from this prototype, but with most of the feedback being positive, it let's us know we're on the right track!

Hey Gooby, thanks so much for playing the alpha prototype!
Your second to last attempt of the boss at the end had me on the edge of my seat, it was awesome to see you improve so quickly.

There are definitely things we want to improve upon, one being the pacing of the various mechanics and when they're introduced. As you experienced, it can get quite overbearing having all those things shoved at once (but you eventually got the up block! :D).

We're also glad you liked the Ooze character so much (the frog!). His design will actually end up quite a bit different in the final game, but he'll still remain a frog so don't worry!
