Hi, I'm working on To Find A Home VN, where you play a witch who ends up at the haunted house after being evicted and meets some oddball fellow supernaturals in the process. :)
We're planning to finish up the game by the end of the summer and have a public demo out (no updates with new content to demo itself, just bug fixes and such) while we work on the game in studio.
Since the rules confuse me a little, I was wondering if I can apply the game to the jam or does the demo disqualify us?

I know 😅, I'm also not happy with how abruptly the demo ends. Imagine - it was even more abrupt before I fixed it a little!
There will be a small update soon to fix some pronoun mismatches and such, where I'll also try to make the demo end more smoothly. No new content in the demo though, sorry, that will have to wait for the full game.
P.S. Do you have a favorite character? Anyone you're really looking forward to seeing more of?

I'm glad you liked Ace! The name is there to stay, it's actually part of their background story, though it's never referenced ingame (their Childe actually started calling them that since they forgot their name, kind of as a joke and it stuck), but I understand it doesn't really evoke "ancient vampire" energy. Don't worry, I won't change the game on a whim due to reader feedback - that way lay madness. I'm just curious what people think and I find it useful to know for future projects what works and what doesn't.

Thank you for pointing that out, though I don't think it's obvious English is your second language, but then it's my second, too. I'll fix that error and pass the code again to check for more inconsistencies.
Do you mind telling me what you found dubious about the theme?
I plan to make some changes to the page description soon - I feel like maybe the original description leans a little too much into the supernatural, dramatic angle, and maybe I should try to make it more modern fantasy with a found family feel because that's the way the plot is going. The romance is supposed to be the center, of course, though I guess it could be considered somewhat of a slow burn.
P.S. Did you have a favorite character? Who did you flirt with? 😄

When you say it needs proofreading, have you noticed any inconsistencies with pronouns or do you mean it generally to be careful and keep an eye out?
We tried our best to proofread it multiple times and test the game, but it's hard for us to notice the small details after so many replays with all the possible variations. Still, if there are errors we missed, we'll gladly pass the game again to find and fix them.
