You don’t need to register the simulator nor subscribe to anything. It’s an optional feature for developers to try downloading games from the web user account. It works fine without registering.
What’s your operating system?
Thank you very much for the feedback!
Yes, I was thinking of adding more combo effects. Perhaps also changing the background when the combo exceeds a certain value or invert the screen color. Also making the combo count bigger and center.
I was considering creating a branching story based on how the player handle ads bubbles. There would be two branching points, resulting in four (bad) endings. The first few levels would be identical for each branch, and after that, you would discover information about the person you are helping. Each ending would feature a different character (each with its own gameplay variations and difficulty).
Each ending would show a light of hope growing bigger, and after experiencing all of them, it would unlock a fifth story with a good ending.
However I haven’t got all the details ready yet 😅.
Thank you! Yes, I was already thinking about adding thought bubbles with more hit points in later levels. There is already a reward if you manage to avoid positive thoughts, but I like the idea of combining multiple positive thoughts to get something even better. I will try to think about it. I was also thinking of a “zone” mode when the player manages to get a high chain count with (maybe) dedicated music. My main problem is time to implement all of this 😅
Thanks! In this version, there are no repercussions if you get the questions wrong after a session, but it’s something I am pondering for an extended version. Regarding the customer, for now, yes, it is the same person all along. But I would like to introduce different customers later. The idea would be that you can follow how their life goes as the game progresses and their stress source changes.
Hope you’ll be able to beat Finepen now!
I’d love to play against someone too, and I’m currently exploring ways to add a multiplayer mode.
For local multiplayer, I’m considering splitting the controls between two players:
Left player:
Right player:
Not sure how well it’ll work, but I’ll have to give it a try!
I’m also looking into PDPortal to see if I can add online multiplayer. Fingers crossed! :)
Hello again! I have uploaded a new build to reduce the difficulty of this level. She has the same playstyle so my previous comment is still relevant but it should be easier to pull off.
I sent it to Panic so it should be available soon on Catalog as well. EDIT: It’s now available on Catalog.
Thanks for the comment!
If you are using Gatekeeper on your Mac (it’s enabled by default), it may complain because you are trying to run an executable downloaded from the internet.
To launch the game (after installing the Playdate SDK), you will need to right click the file “Poker Poker Magic.pdx”, select “Show Package Contents” and then right click on “pdex.dylib” and select “Open”. The warning popup will show again but this time it will have an “Open” option. Select it. Now you will be able to run the game by double clicking on “Poker Poker Magic.pdx”.
Hello!
I’m sorry but this game is designed for the Playdate console, so there is no executable file.
You can still play it on Windows/macOS/Linux using the Playdate simulator. You can get it by installing the Playdate SDK: https://play.date/dev/. The current version of Poker Poker Magic only has support for the macOS simulator, but I can add support for the Windows and Linux simulators if needed.
If you prefer a refund instead, I can request it from Itch support.
Thank you very much for your interest in Poker Poker Magic!
Short answer: dock the crank and touch nothing to descend.
When you set the fire on, the balloon will rise up. When you set the fire off, it’s acceleration will decrease and slowly start to descend.
There is a fire level that decides the acceleration. When you press A, the fire level is set to 100%.
Using the crank, 100% is the top of the console and it goes gradually to 0% at the bottom of the console. I don’t mention the crank gameplay because I find it too hard to play. Better dock the crank and only use the A button.
If the balloon takes too much time to descend it usually means that you pressed A for too long. Try to do short press instead. Still, long press are useful to go over the mountains.
Thank you for your support Hassan.
Kuroobi will be on sale on Catalog from March 7 to 14. I hope the sale price will meet your expectations.
The Catalog version includes online scores. As Kuroobi is a score chaser, the interest is less without online rankings so I felt bad selling it for the same price here. The Itch version is 50% cheaper for people not interested in online scores (but if anyone bought it here and wants the Catalog version, just send me a mail!).
I understand the game might seem pricey compared to other platforms, but with a smaller player base on Playdate, it’s challenging to cover the 12 months of work at a lower price.
