I just played the game and loved it. It flowed so perfectly. Thanks for making it!

Thanks! I enquired about the save drive situation on the DAAD forum a while ago. As far as I understand it, the drive selection is hard baked into the interpreter, which was created for the A500 in the 1990s. I'm not sure that this will be changed any time soon, but I'm glad you found a way around it. EDIT: I guess that you would prefer to play the game on a real Amiga, but an alternative is https://adventure-player.com/ which can run the .ADF file in a browser, and SAVEs are held locally.
I have been informed that the Spectrum Next version has a background hissing noise when run on the Cspect and MAME emulators (thanks for spotting this Leonis, and your investigations into the cause). If this affects you, you can download the new Cspect version above. It plays a short bleep at the start to make the sound behave itself. Otherwise, it's identical to the original release. Or you can turn the sound down on your speakers, as the game doesn't have any sound effects anyway :-)
Ooops, I've just realised I let a little bug slip through in the Next version (doesn't affect the others), where the turns in the status bar aren't automatically updated each, well, turn. It doesn't affect gameplay but I'll upload a new version soon. In the meantime, if you have noticed any more bugs then please do let me know here, or by whatever method you find the easiest, so I can fix them too at the same time. Thanks :-)
EDIT (22/6/26): Amended file uploaded.
A two disk Amiga version is in the pipeline, thanks to the versatility of DAAD. As a complete novice to the Amiga, and without access to real hardware, I will need to rely on end users to let us know if there are any problems getting it to run properly.
p.s. A couple of very minor changes were made to the game in the process, so a corresponding new version of the Next game has been uploaded including these changes.
Glad it helped. What would be easier would be an alternative version of the QXL.win file to download with a selection of games as microdrive and floppy images pre-loaded in a single folder and a program to select and run them. Then all you need to do to add a new one is just drop it into the games folder. Just like you do with the Next itself.
I have my win1_ set up like this. Maybe I can tidy it up and make it available for download.
Spectrum Next version just updated to version N2.1
1) Some cosmetic text formatting changes
2) Better "hand holding" to make it harder for the player to get stuck in an unwinnable positon
3) Some silly little bugs identified and dealt with
Maybe I need some beta testers for the sequel!
Edit: Updated Adventuron browser version as well
Edit: A quite annoying bug in Next version discovered. Updated to N2.11 (sorry if you've already downloaded it - the bug just makes it too easy to complete the game. Last update, for a while at least, I hope!) 15/11/25
Edit: Now added QL version 2.2 and amended the Next QL core instructions as well. This includes some more bug fixes over 2.11 but no more revisions till next year, as more are bound to crop up! 22/11/25
Edit: OTIS is now getting some proper beta testing and a graphics upgrade. The next version will be the definitive one!
Edit: Version 2.4 uploaded, now in colour, thanks to "Crayon"!. 13/12/25
Edit: Final version added, for SMSQ/E. This is the best way to enjoy Jarda's excellent graphics :-) Of course, another couple of bugs came to light in the process of testing it, so all the other versions have been given a tiny upgrade as well. Hopefully that's eveything finalised! 16/12/25
