A dynamic game with an incredible art style!

I love love LOVE the way these characters are drawn and characterised,  kudos to your artist. The punchout-style of gameplay was super fun, you managed to execute these mechanics very well and the inclusion of a second phase kept me on my toes. Looking at other comments I may be a bit of a broken record here, but the theme seemed pretty lacking.

Aside from that, amazing job! congrats!

Amazing style and atmosphere!!

Holy moly!! I love the aesthetic here, It's fantastic. You managed to get my blood pumping, the horror stinger sound effect did a great job at stressing me out. I agree with some of the other commenters, maybe an extra mechanic or two could keep things interesting but aside from that this is a job well done. Congrats!

Hi!

I'd really appreciate it if you took a look at the game me and my friends made,  its a bit janky- but we put our all into the art!

Cute and creative!

I found the spellcasting mechanic quite difficult. Managing when and how to use your spells at the same time as evading enemies was very hard, especially when the spells themselves are a little tricky to complete. This idea however is a wonderful one, and I hope you find time outside of the jam to refine it! The character design is charming too,  well done!

Fun!!

Creative take on the theme with charming pixel art. Music and SFX would take this to the next level.

Creative and exciting!!

What a neat little game! This feels like the kind of thing I'd have played growing up for hours, simple yet surprisingly difficult and addicting. The main song sounds great, and I can tell your pixel artist worked hard (yes I noticed that little envelope animation and yes I loved it). For critique and the future, maybe you could add a different collectable than the foam finger- maybe something that slows your fall or extends how high you fly! Overall, great job- Well done!

Love the pixel art, it looks lovely!

A bit more content would be nice, some variation in what the player is doing as it got quite repetitive.

Well done, this is a nice first game!

Amazing atmosphere and visuals! Love it!

I absolutely adore how this game looks, the aesthetic makes it stand out from other entries I've seen.  The use of the theme is incredibly creative, too! For criticism I found it a little difficult to get the controls right and thought the pink dots were the actual ants for a very long time,  even with all the information given it is slightly confusing to understand exactly how the gathering ability should be played (it may be just a skill issue).

Overall this is very polished and nicely done!! You should be incredibly proud of yourself, well done!

Incredibly fun and polished!

The movements and physics feel perfect, I had no issues with the gameplay at all. I think the only thing is that the game would benefit from a little more visual variety and identity, but that's more of a personal preference. I had a blast trying to beat my high scores, though I never did quite end up on the leader board hahah!

Well done!!

So stylish and polished!
I can tell how much love went into refining the feel of this game!! Fun, smooth mechanics and a simple concept executed well. In terms of criticism It was a little too difficult for me and so I didn't finish, my fingers get achy pretty quickly and the shift to dash was a bit of an uncomfortable hand placement (I'd recommend having an option to map it to spacebar instead).
What I did get round to playing was lovely however, Well done! This is an entry to be proud of!

I love your creative use of the theme, I would have never thought of spinning a pizza. Adding the toppings was also very fun, and the animated sprites were endearing. Could do with some variation in enemies, sound effects and perhaps a longer music track in the background as things got repetitive pretty quickly.  Aside from that, great work!

As an artist myself I can happily say the art for this game is amazing!!! From the itch icon, to the environment design, to the pixel art-- such lovely stuff!!
In terms of criticism, unfortunately I feel as though the rest of the game doesn't quite do the art justice. I think you'd benefit from some audio cues for when the minigames begin, and some kind of visual representation as well. I read the description on how to play before the game, and it still took me a while to figure out what was happening- I kept soft locking the game by wandering around aimlessly as a pixel sprite too long hahah. Aside from that though, you have a creative interpretation of the theme! Well done!!

very silly game that made me smile!
In terms of critique, I was a little confused as to what was happening at first- the UI is pretty overwhelming and the game doesn't give you any pointers.
Other than that, I think this a fun little experience and a creative take on the theme. Well done!!

Interesting mechanics and atmosphere!
I like your interpretation of the theme, it's very creative having the platforms move like wheels when you activate your psychic ability.  Some polish in the controls and level design might be needed. Unfortunately I couldn't progress past the second spike area, as the platform rotation seemed to get caught in the ground (I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, haha), but what I did play was unique.

Very serious!
This is a stylish and simple little game,  impressive for a first jam! I will say the CPR mechanic to continue is a little unforgiving to start with, and the pill bullets move slightly slowly for how many obstacles there are. A little variety in audio and obstacle designs could have elevated the atmosphere- but aside from that, the finish is incredibly polished! Well done!

my high score was 5500...

beautiful but silly.    Very silly

Thank you so much for this comment! The two of us are artists first and foremost and I'm so happy you could see our passion displayed in our work!

Hiya! I'm the artist that worked on those character designs- I'm so glad they made you laugh!!!

Don't worry ! Was also on me for being a bit slow at reading the mention of it on the front page <3
Was still a gorgeous little play ! After I got a good nights sleep after that, I got to mull on it a little more with a clearer mind and it DID make me a little sentimental :]

Thank you so much for playing!! :D

Thank you so so much!! This is such a sweet comment. I'm so happy you took the time to appreciate all the themes we put into this story.
<3

Also, fun fact, I see why you drew parallels with the Phoenix Wright character but that's completely coincidental- Maya is actually named after the 3D art software with the same name! >.<

Hi ! Sorry if you already saw what the creator said in their description about how to play it, but you download both of the pc files there's an exe and pck file and put them both in the same folder on your computer and run the exe !

That's a simple yet stunning UI !! I spent ages turning the sliders up and down in the menu to watch it, and even smaller things like the light flickering of the textbox graphics and the smoke effect ugh so good!!
I fear I fall almost completely outside of the demographic of classic mythology enjoyer, but even with that the choices and outcomes of toying with fate were interesting to read! Meddling gods (And in this case, their oracle) is always an interesting premise.

Personally, I found the use of the black background and some simple graphics in the background to still be effective narratively and also scope wise for a game jam ! That's really clever. Even without visuals, the descriptions and writing made it so easy to suspend my disbelief. Great work guys :]

As other people have said, LITERALLY eye of the beholder ! Me and Bonnacon made a couple quips about it at the start of the jam when we were ideating, but I am genuinely ecstatic to see a couple of the entries that actually went for the whole eye of the Beholder (Monster) hehe

I like the direction you took it after that thought ! I am a bit squicky about eye stuff but the concept of using spoils of war as prosthetics was really neat and I had never considered it before, but you hit the nail on the head with the trying to grab as many 'trophies' as possible, just in this case it came with a cost.

And even though other people have said it, that's a lot of CGs for one person to make ! Good on you

(1 edit)

I had a really good time playing this!! Like a lot of other people said, I had troubles with the game being just so tiny even in fullscreen mode but I just sat closer to the screen.

I really loved the go-around mechanic of losing one of your senses each time, especially with the reveal of the Mistress taking them away from you to finally return back was really good ! I spent a good amount of time at the beginning stuck because I kept missing days with the mistress at the sanctum lol. The ending was a little bitter sweet, and maybe I'm just tired but it made me a bit emotional ^^;;

Plus the graphics are super sweet and I loved the pixel sprites of the priestess whenever you changed your stats!

Once I got the game running this was a nice little walkthrough of how different things hold different importance to people! It might be post-jam brain mush but I played through it a couple times to actually try to understand what I was reading but the sentiment was there all the way through.

I didn't actually manage to catch the little drawing of Pipo on the wall whilst I played ! It's just now looking back through the screenshots that I saw it, might be worth brightening up the scene a tad so we can all see them <3

Hello other friend of bonnacon ! Thank you :D

Hello friends of bonnacon I vaguely recognise you guys :] Thanks a lot !!!

Thank you so much!! Your games were some of the first things I played when I initially found itch.io, so it's lovely to see you pop up here <33

Can't wait to play days of saturn with my script writer and sprite artist !

Thank you so much !! We saw you comment so soon after we posted yesterday, a very pleasant surprise :]
