Okay my problem is as solved as it can be, considering the circumstances.

Mods, you may lock the thread.

I'm unsubscribing from updates because this will just devolve into endless speculation.

We can do nothing but hope that alternatives to paypal become more available and more practical.

iDeal would be nice, it's very popular in Europe. It directly connects to your bank account so you don't need a credit card (not very common in my country) and you don't have to give up all your rights like you do with paypal.

I know exactly which checkbox you mean, a little blue slider thing to indicate I want to continue without an account. It used to be there.

I guess I'm the unwilling guinea pig in some sorta A/B test that Paypal is doing.

EDIT: Solved it. I have to open a private mode window, log into itch again, make the purchase and then tell paypal an e-mail address I've never used with them before. The option to skip account creation now appears again.

The second time I use that e-mail address again... the option is gone. So I can do at most one transaction per e-mail address until I'm forced to register.  All this with the same address and credit card data.

I'd rather the solution is available on the forum for others to find, I doubt I'm the only one with this issue.

I've spoken to the creator and they told me they changed absolutely nothing. I've been buying their stuff for years.

This is what I see. I cannot leave the password field blank to skip account creation.

Please no discussion on why I should or should not have a paypal account, go make your own thread for that.

I keep trying to buy something and whenever I try to pay, I am forced to register a paypal account or I can't make the payment.

When trying to pay, the first screen asks for my e-mail address.

The next asks for my credit card details, name, address etc. But as I scroll down I have to set up a password for a new paypal account and confirm it, or the entire transaction is canceled.

This is new, before I could just enter my credit card details and pay for stuff without having to set up a paypal account. Is there an option I'm missing somewhere? Am I doing something wrong?

FWIW I'm in the Netherlands.

I've enjoyed this. Will the full version be released on Itch?

*bump*

I'm in the EU so paying VAT is required, so I'd like to see the full price. That's how it is in the supermarket and on many other online shops too. Only business-to-business shops hide the VAT from the price. VAT is very high where I live so hiding the VAT from the price makes things seem a lot cheaper than what I actually end up paying.

I saved my billing address to itch but it makes no difference, the actual price is only shown at the very last moment, before entering the payment data.

How do I configure itch so it shows me the price of things with the VAT already added?

And if possible, how do I set the price to display in Euros? I understand that it'll fluctuate through the day.

If not possible, does anyone know of a userscript that does this?

Please no discussion on the legitimacy of VAT.

The way I can do it on Steam is very convenient and simple, so something like that would be nice:

I can see a full list of all my games without pagination and loading. A scrollbar makes it no problem if the screen is too small. The list is just the game titles, only text, so it takes very little space. I can then right click a game in that list on the left, and immediately choose what category to put it in. I can even select multiple games with shift-click or control-click and move them all at once. Additionally, Steam can show me which items have not yet been categorized, so it's easy to find out what I've missed. Maybe this can be implemented by expanding the current filtering functionality that's in the Itch PC client.

You can't do right clicks or control clicks on a touch screen, but you could use checkboxes and long presses to work around this.

However, a mobile fallback would not be needed to be implemented urgently, games can still be added to collections right now, although it takes more effort for the user.

I wasn't entirely clear in my original post. I meant it's four clicks to add a game to a collection.

Please don't hijack my thread and change the topic. Make your own thread.

I'm trying to use collections but there's no way to see what games haven't been added to a collection yet.  And it's four clicks and some page loading time for each game, which get impractical fast when there's nearly 2000 items to deal with.

Is there a better way?

I have nearly 2000 things in my library via the Racial Equality Bundle. How do I keep them organized? I'd like to add games to categories like I can do on Steam.

I installed the itch client, which is an improvement over the website because I can do some basic filtering, but can I do categories?  I still have a list of over a 1000 games that keeps growing as I'm scrolling down.
