Hey! Sorry I'm a bit rusty on the actual implementation (and this is Godot Engine by the way, not Unity, although it doesn't really matter), but IIRC I used a simple function to check if an entity (player, acorn, etc.) could move to a target tile. I did collision checking and stuff like that in this function.

If the destination is occupied by a pushable item (an acorn), I would call the same function recursively passing the acorn and the desired push destination.

The function returns false if no movement is possible, so if the acorn cannot be pushed to its destination the whole movement is halted.

Can't really check the actual code at the moment since I'm on vacation, but I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thank you for playing, glad you enjoyed!

Hey! Seems to be working on my end, both on desktop and mobile. You could try with a different browser/device. Let me know if you still can't play it!

I'm really glad you liked it so much! Thank you for playing it and for the kind words :)

Thanks for playing!

The hint system was deliberately left out, as I didn't really have the time to code it and carefully balance it before the jam ended. It's definitely something I want to add later.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for playing it!

No YOU'RE adorable!

(Thanks for playing)

Thanks for playing!

Thanks! Happy acorn hunting my friend

Thank you so much!

Thanks! I wanted to add the owl attack animation but ran out of time and went with a simpler one.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for playing! :)

Hi!

All levels are solveable, I tested them personally (and repeatedly), and had them tested by different people to make sure. Later levels are a bit harder, so it's easier to get stuck. Don't give up, you almost made it to the end!

Edit: I just now realized you might have been asking for a hint. Sorry, English is not my first language. Another user (gencivl) posted a useful video that can help you.

Hey! Really sorry to hear that. Have you tried refreshing the page? You should be able to start from the latest level you've reached.

I'll definitely look into it. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it! Thank you for playing :)

Thank you so much! I'm sure you can do it, keep trying and don't let those cute but cruel owls win!

Thanks for playing!

Thank you so much! :)

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

Thank you so much! I tried  balancing the movement to be not too slow because in certain levels you have to go around a lot and didn't want it to be tedious. I definitely agree though, sometimes it's easy to overshoot and mess up the whole level. I'm thinking of slowing the movement down and adding some sort of run button.

Thanks for the feedback!

Very cool game, I liked the aesthetic and level design! I wish the mushrooms were a bit more lenient, I got stuck on the side a lot of times. Also loved the side scrolling in a 3D environment, but sometimes camera movement is just too sudden and got me killed in a specific location.

Overall a very solid entry. Good job!

Great little game! Controls are perfect and feel great. I appreciate the fact that you can just hold the jump button down if you want to keep jumping.

Well polished with lovely art and animations, nice music, and quite the sunset at the end!

A pretty solid entry. Good work!

Cool idea! The art is nice and animations are good.

I had a very hard time hitting the pumpkins with such a short range without getting wrecked.

Overall I liked the game. Good job!

Fun game! Sometimes all you want to do is grab a couple of weapons and mindlessly shoot some autumn themed anime waifus.

Nice job!

This is such a small, cute, cozy game! Very short but warm and sweet. Absolutely loved the art, I am a sucker for this kind of retro minimal aesthetic. Good job with the hue shifting each screen. Music was great as well.

Great job!

Cool small game! Nice use of the day/night cycle, although I wish the bug stopped following you at night, since you already have to carefully navigate around the ice blocks.

Very solid first game, good job!

Edit: forgot about the music. I loved it!

What a nice little game! Loved the retro-inspired aesthetic and the overall mood. Great job!

Simple but fun game. Had some minor issues with collisions on branches, but overall I quite enjoyed being a squirrel and jumping from branch to branch. Nice job!

Interesting idea and nice execution. Great job!

Great concept! I spent a couple minutes trying to get the first box on the button, without realizing that pushing it beside the button was enough to open the door. Whoops!

Movement is unique and very challenging.

Good job!

Great game! Simple and fun. Sword animation seems very slow, but the camera shake really sells the impact when you hit an enemy, such a small but important detail. I loved it!

I only had an issue with the upgrade selection, I wish the buttons had a delay (maybe activate after a second?) because I was clicking to attack an enemy when the wave ended abruptly and I accidentally clicked the longer sword. I wasn't even able to read what the other upgrade was.

In the end, I couldn't protect the pumpkin. Great work!

Cute game! I actually like the art, it's simple but effective. Would look so much nicer if every sprite had the same pixel scale.

My main issue is with collisions. Getting stopped on every collision made the game unnecessarily frustrating to play. This is especially apparent on trees, since they have a huge hitbox.

Night time is fun and chaotic, although I lost pretty much immediately. Well that's on me for being bad at tower defense games ^^'

Good job, keep it up!

Love the concept! Controls felt a little too "floaty" and lacks visual feedback on user actions, mainly damaging the crows. I feel like even a small thing such as flashing the sprite red would have improved the game a lot, especially since the damage is done by jumping off enemies, which is OK but a bit unusual.

Good work!

Thank you for playing it! :)

Thank you!

I had this complaint from a couple of other people as well. I 100% agree.

One of the early levels was supposed to teach that mechanic, but got changed along the dev process and the "teaching moment" was lost. I'll definitely fix the issue in a future development.

I appreciate the feedback, thanks for playing!

Thank you! Plenty of cute games in this jam, I'm really happy I joined. Thanks for playing my game!

Thank you! I really love your entry as well. Thanks for playing it!

Thank you so much!

Personally I think play in browser is a great way to support multiple platforms, and reach a broader audience, including those who don't like to download files or maybe are browsing the submissions while at work.

For my game, Scatterhoard, I went with a web version that supports touch controls as well, so you can basically play on any major platform. I didn't know accessibility was a voting category, I just wanted more people to enjoy the game.
