Awwww Thank you!

Your feedback is always so lovely and detailled, it's been a pleasure reading all this 😊

I'm glad you liked those little details! I really love to add as much juice and polish as I can in my games😆

I hope there are some good Gamemaker Leaderboards system out there. These things are really handy since you have all the necessary functions ready on the server and just have to link it to your game. Leaderboards always add that little friendly competition that is always welcome! 🤣

Performance has always been quite the issue for me, on all my last games there were always lag spikes and black screens for some people. I hate that but fortunately most of the times people can still play because of the two different versions 😮‍💨

As for shaders, all the ones I used in my games are screenspace shaders, fragment shaders are indeed more performant, since they operate during the rendering process instead of applying a filter afterwards, but it also means you'll have to learn GLSL (and this thing scares me honestly). I don't really remember how shaders work in GMS but I believe it shouldn't be too different. 🤔

WHAT THE FUCK 😭😂

I love the idea of trying to keep the battle going for as long as possible, I don't think it matches the current theme that well, but the idea is still very nice.

The game is very buggy indeed, but it led to very funny moments where the units would teleport all around the screen, it was very chaotic and very fun to see 🤣

I noticed the sounds slowly dissapeared, like at first the death sound is super loud, and then after a minute of playtime you can't hear it anymore.

The game is funny and I think you can go very far with this concept, but it needs a lot of polish x)

Okay, so what a ride this game was haha😂

I don't think the idea really works with the theme, since it's all scripted, however the story was quite funny, and I like that you had plenty of cutscenes, pretty unusual for a game jam.

The combat feels quite buggy and rudimentary, but I loved seeing the ennemies's meshes exploding when starting to ragdoll x) the laser beam was cool to use as well.

The visuals are what I consider the bare minimum, you could try adding some lighting and more varied textures to make it look nicer! I also noticed you had some UI scaling issues, I suggest you look for anchors and the viewport stretch settings to fix that 😉. Also, try custom themes! it's crazy how a little of this can turn a generic UI into a more professional one.

Since you credited FL Studio I believe you made the music yourself. It's quite good! the composition is really nice and you have a lot of variation throughout the track. I think you could improve it more by adding some effects (like some vibrato on your electric guitar), and also some instrument variation with automation clips!

everyone starts somewhere! Keep working hard champ✌️

Managed to save them all as well. 😎 I think you could have integrated the theme better by having more of them, so the player would have to carefully choose which one to save, adding some replayability as well!

The graphics are lovely, just a tiny bit of bloom would make it perfect (Yes, I love bloom if you havn't figured by now 😂), the sounds are also good and the background music fits with the cozy puzzle game.

I also think you should add gravity, to add some depth to the charge and launch mechanic (because charging is kind of useless right now).

A shame it's so short, the idea is cool!

One of them! The trolley problem one 😊
When I read the newspaper the next day I was like "WHAT, THIS GUY FROM YESTERDAY ACTUALLY CAME TO ME FOR ADVICE AND DID IT !?" 😂

So cool! A shame I was too good of a doctor and couldn't save my wife 😭

I have to say, this game took me by surprise, I didn't expect my actions to have repercussions the way it did. It got me really immersed into the game. The plot is great, and really adds something to look forward to.

the gameplay is quite complex (I never played Papers Please personally), but the Guide book was really handy and made it easy for me to understand. I like how varied the situations were, and that you have more and more people coming to your clinic, which makes you choose really carefully the ones you save.

As for graphics, they are clear and readable. The point and click feedback and all the little animations are really neat as well.

The sounds are good, the talking SFX is especially funny, I have to say though that the music was a bit too discreet.

The only thing which bothered me a little is the fact you can't play the game in fullscreen, other than that the game is really good and deserves a top spot! Good job to both of you! ✌️

All the little references you made are so cool, I got so invested in the game 🤣. I loved the fact you also made a section on yourself with your devlog (which is lovely, because I can read it directly in the game) and nods to your past game jam entries.

Visuals are simple and polished, same for the audio.

The OS functions exactly like a real one, so It's really easy to pick up and navigate.

The little stories all were well written and set a clear goal to the player each time.

I know you don't typically make those type of games, but It's still a solid entry! Good job!

Hey, I think it's actually the first time I try out your game x)

The presentation is great! the little introduction, the menus, the tutorials, I don't even have to look at the game page but I already understand everything I need to!

the graphics are really good, and the screenshake and particle effects are a nice touch that makes combat feels impactful.

I'm mixed with the audio though, the sound you chose are great (and the musics as well!), but often the sounds were delayed or not played at all. But I think it's just a bug so don't worry too much.

As for the gameplay, I think it's quite hard, I don't usually play those type of games, but I still couldn't beat the game after playing thrice.

I noticed the ally ships always miss moving targets, so they actually start damaging enemy ships only when they stop moving.

Also, like Chris mentionned below, they often attack civilian ship in priority, and I think their suggestion of using ship placement to protect them is great.

Other than that, it's a solid entry, a shame I won't be able to enter the leaderboard 😆😫

Heyyyy Zoldyck! Made another amazing game this time didn't you ? 😂

I gotta say, this is probably the most invested I've ever been in a jam game, your story and cutscenes are as great as usual, and the tension you feel while playing, with the breathing and all that, OH MY.

The game is really incredible, the gameplay is really satisfying and skilled based, with a lot of juice and little details.

But what I think shines the most is the audio, it sets the tone so well!

5 stars throughout, you deserve it.✌️

Love the art style, it creates a nice Limbo aesthetic and also makes it very clear and readable with the different colors!

The little voices are really cute, the music fits perfectly with the mood, and the puzzles are nice and forgiving, it was nice trying out new paths in each level.

What bothered me a little are the physics, they had a hard time working sometimes 🤣

Other than that the game is great, with a good theme implementation and gameplay loop!

(Also the timescale multiplier is such a nice QOL addition!)

And lastly, is that THE UNIVERSAL TRANSITION SHADER ?! I RECOGNIZE THOSE SQUARE PATTERNS 😂

Really like that one! the game is very juicy and polished, I love it.

Thev game is quick but has good replayability thanks to the different goals, which is always nice to have.

The graphics and audio are great and perfeclty complement the gameplay, the only thing I think could be improved further is the UI (especially the placement).

Good job on that one! ✌️

I am the master of the ball muhahahahah.

So the game has nice art, nice music (though short), and the leaderboard / onboarding is always nice to have.

I wasn't particularily a fan of the game because it featured a bit too much randomness for me (to invest in for better scores I mean). However, I really liked the chaotic experience when you reach a certain point and you have too many balls to manage 🤣

Other than that I think you could add some more dynamism by giving the balls some more weight and increasing the flipper strength to create a snappier experience.

Thank god at least you still managed to get around it 🤣

Thank you so much! means a lot 😆

Hey!
Don't think you're doing anything wrong, it's just my fault for not optimizing the shader compilation (which creates hugh stutters which the camera really don't like).

Right now since I can't edit the game, the only option is to either pray for it to go smoothly on web, or play the desktop version 😔

Indeed, I don't know how I still manage after all this time to make poorly optimized web builds but I do haha

Thank youuu!

The setting should work though😫, A shame it didn't for you.

Thanks!

I also noticed this bug, sometimes your characters would try targeting a non existant enemy, which prevents you from dashing to new targets. It's such a boring bug, but I noticed it to late to fix it in time x)

Oh noooo, I think the issue is coming from the shader compilation running in the background. I'd love to fix it but I can't, so the only solution now is pray or play the desktop version... very sorry about that!

Fun and silly!

The 2 types of gameplay work really well together, and is fun to mess around with!

The art is cute, and the adaptive music is a nice touch.

However, a lot of species went extinct in my playthrough, guess I'm not made for this job x)

HOW, THE FUCK, IS THIS A JAM GAME, THIS IS SO PEAK.

seriously, you have to be winner of the jam, you have insane art, music, gameplay and theme coherence.

everything is easy to pick up, the tutorial is a really nice addition, and the variety of animals add a lot of playtime!

The game is so great I don't even understand how you made that is so little time.

Not gonna lie, I didn't understand anything about what I was doing, but I extracted so it's okay I guess.

First of all, the controls. They feel very weird and floaty, especially the mouse, that for some reason feels like driving a vehicle (like xmada said).

You can get off the map without really trying. The walls don't have collisions, so I spent my time runing away and looking at the skybox x)

Most buttons on the menu didn't work, or only sometimes.

Other than that, the game has good audio, a nice mood and the intro/outro is a nice touch of storytelling.

Always with the long and funny names huh x)

The game is nice and short as always, with a nice touch of replayability with the leaderboard (I'm second for now!)

The music is tense and the mix of paper / 3D art works well!

The minigames are a great idea. Though I often had the same one like 3 or 4 times in a row.

Also have to point out that it is amazing work for only 20 hours of development.

The game is simple yet requires good thinking and strategy, I liked it!

kinda had a hard time reading the Pico-8 font, but the gameplay made for it. The upgrades are varied, and although the game is probably a bit too hard, it is fun.

Good job on your first submission!

guess that was a bug then. too bad for me haha

I'd love to (really) try your game to give you real feedback, I will try again tomorrow, maybe this time it will work :)

As great as the playtest was !

Will be my first full 5 star note on this jam :)

Haha I understand what you mean. I wanted to have a more story focused game at first but since I overscoped HARD I ended up only making the gameplay part x)

Isn't that a beautiful base ? ( Yes there are almost no animals but I've god FOOD) x)

The game is really fun, the visuals are nice and OH MY THE MUSICS.

The map system is a nice addition, the game takes some time to get your hands on but once you understand it's really enjoyable.

(1 edit)

Okay, so actually you can save them all.

As a true gamer, I was able to click all the files at lightspeed, but no more spawned after 85 saved, with still 15 seconds on the timer. So I was forced a bad ending despite playing perfectly.  x)

Cool artstyle ! The illustrations and designs are great, a shame there is a quality gap with the gameplay art though.

The gameplay feels slow, like verrrry slow (even while running), I think increasing the player speed would have been a good idea.

Not gonna lie, I was completely lost in terms of story at first. The descriptions in brackets feels off when you could have illustrations to show them (e.g "Thumbs up").

I also did not understand what the ability traits were for, maybe I missed something x)

Audio is good, but lacks presence (there are not a lot of sounds in the game, and the music isn't very loud.)
I liked the multiple endings, especially the mcdonalds one, very funny.

Game has huge lag spikes for me, I literally can't play it.  :(

Also, not the best pop up to be greeted with x)

I trust you so I opened it anyway, but not everyone's willing to take the risk. (that's also why people also usually make web builds)

Ok, I tried it now, It was nice.
The game is polished with cool gameplay, took me a while to understand I was actually playing it though, I thought I was swapping tutorial cards at first xD. All the settings and content you have is really impressive for a jam game.

I'm REALLY not a fan of AI generated assets, but you did a great job at making all of it match together.

The only complaint I have regarding graphics is that the game is hard to read because of the dithering shader.

Cool game overall :)

The concept seems fun but either the arcade and the TV don't work or I didn't understand how to use them xD

Very cute little game.

Got 4 endings, the characters are well writen, the game is intuitive and the little gameplay additions are nice.

The graphics are cool, good old Rpg Maker style, I'm really not a fan of AI generated graphics, but I know it's because you couldn't find an artist so it's okay :)

The musics are awesome! Congrats to you and Zoralune!

Please guys remove linear filtering it makes your sprites awful :(

Great game!

Did I just spend 30 minutes of my life playing a puzzle?

It was fun x)

Graphics, music, gameplay, polish, theme, everything is so well done.

I loved all the enigmas, they were fun! It's basically our game but better xD

Keep up the good work! That game was awesome.

The game doesn't boot, on windows yes

wtf
