Perfect blend of background music enhancing the action on the screen, interesting to listen to but not distracting from what's happening in the hypothetical game. You managed to balance so many interesting textures and sound variations it's impressive, I really enjoyed it :)

I feel like you could just take it and plonk it right into a game, sounds super polished! Imo mixing different styles together really payed off, it very much feels like it's own thing. I was tapping my foot at the prologue already and with each song I liked it even more, brilliant work!
Editing to add that I listened to it again and Master of Dreams is an absolute banger, k bye!
I've been listening to this soundtrack on repeat for at least two days and only now realized I never left a comment! Jail!!
I'll try real hard to verbalize my impressions even though I mostly feel like flying off into space with how much I vibe with this album. The atmosphere of this album is one I enjoy so very much, it feels absolutely magical in every sense of the word (Selkie Surfaces and My Seal Coat give me chills every damn time). How you manage to make the instruments feel so alive and expressive is beyond me. Just. I want to sincerely (I mistyped this word so many times afhdashjf) thank you for creating this gem, easily one of my very favorites in this jam.
Oh I know I'll be coming back to this soundtrack. Those two songs really are their own little unique world. Un paso *slaps* (the little accented bass notes are mwah, chef's kiss), and I really love how big and expansive the main theme sounds (one again killing it with the strings). Thanks for sharing your music with us mere mortals ^^
First of all congrats on submitting your music to the jam! I know how nerve wracking it can be to show such personal work to other strangers on the internet. For this soundtrack being your first finished tracks it's really really good. You obviously have a sense for orchestration, there's a lot of musical ideas that really gel together and make those songs a very enjoyable listening experience. As mentioned in other comments, there are some technical aspects to be aware of like balance and playing with the dynamics, but that comes with just doing and doing and doing and- you get my point :D Baby steps. (also I can recommend Marc Jovani's yt channel @cinematiccomposing, there's a ton of useful videos to learn from)
I really hope you keep creating because you have something special going on here, I'll be hoping to see you in the next jam!
PS Please give the kitty some skritches from me :)
Loved the chord progression in Surface Level (especially one moment at 1:23, gave me them chills). Fantastic guitar work (I assume recorded live? at least it sounds like it was), expert level use of textures the production quailty was just 🤌 The Benthic Hour is my favorite track I think, I really enjoyed how it merged the guitar with the more electronic elements, felt really intense but also quite lyrical! Amazing album, 12/10
This is such clean work I was vibing the whole time I was listening to it. Indeed a LOT can happen in a span of three songs, both narratively and musically! I really liked the timbre of the instruments you used for 'A Light from the Abyss', I think you definitely succeeded in making sure the more intense parts felt stressful but also pleasant to the ear :) congrats!
Thank you for the feedback! The instruments I used were mostly Berlin Orchestra Inspire strings, Tina Guo Cello Legato, Lute 2 by Cinematique Instruments and CinePerc for most of the percussion.
Yeah I've been a bit cautious irt to drums since it's hasn't been that long since I've started working on getting better in that area, so thank you for pointing out room for improvement, definitely will take a listen to the music you linked 🙏
Oh that's some lovely ambience. I could easily imagine looking at the night sky for hours with "The Stars We See" in the background, so relaxing. I really enjoyed that while "Comet Strokes" had more rhythmic movement under the hood it still had that charming and pretty relaxed mood despite being the more 'intense' part of the game. Had a great time while listening to this soundtrack, thanks for sharing!
Not gonna have anything wise to say, but: I sat through the whole ost which is *not* something I'd usually do given its length, but this ost had me hooked. Even when the composition went somewhere that wasn't my usual vibe I was too curious to stop; storytelling-wise this is one of the most intriguing submissions I've heard so far. Bloody Red Moon took me by surprise (well, the whole thing did, but that track was something else), and my favorite was probably The Door Between You and Me. All that and ALSO to have the video to go along with the music? Wild stuff, great job :)
TEN tracks, what a treat - but also I hope you had time to sleep a bit during that week :')
You clearly had the whole thing thought through! The compositions really feel like I could grab a controller and experience the action myself, the story you shared in the listening guide is conveyed perfectly. I really liked the leitmotif time-stamps too, usually I like hunting for those myself but the guide helped me appeciate them more without wondering whether I'm connecting the dots well or not :D
All in all the instrument choices and the main themes glues the whole thing together really nicely, the mix sounds great as well (although the sea ambiance could get to be a tad too much, like in decrystallized). It's a big boy of a soundtrack for sure, I really enjoyed it!
I really liked Ocean Detectives! The mood fits the title perfectly. All in all I agree with the other comments that on their own the songs sound okay, but it would be nice if they were connected by a common theme or similar instrument selection to create an overarching narrative. There's definitely a lot of potential in there so I'm curious what you cook up next, nice job!
The soundtrack has a very charming quality to it, I really enjoyed the emotional build up of the Dolphin the most. Not sure if it was intentional, but at times it felt like the instruments were off-beat, but that's just a nitpick. Great work overall, especially considering the technical limitations it's very impressive!
The passion you have for composing shines through in every section, idk how to describe it but it really feels like you had a blast coming up with those tracks (as much as one could with the time constraints and all :')). Especially for someone relatively new (from what I understand? lmk if I'm mistaken :D) to orchestral composing this soundtrack SLAPS absolutely, it's clearly deeply thought through and deliberate irt the story it's portraying and the emotions it's supposed to invoke. Incredible work, keep it up!
