Interesting idea. I didn't have my glasses with the 19x scope so I didn't see shit but the missing audio is a big miss for me. Otherwise hoped it would be more fun.

be me:

--game starts-

gets confused by rotating

understands rotating

finds key

unlocks door

message doors unlocked pop

doors are still locked

-------

would enjoy more if I could walk through the door.

Kinda funny idea. Otherwise not too much of a challenge.

You got a PTSD from adding a timer ? :D lol I don't thing that the timer is connected to the player movement but you do you.

Very good retro style! and the particles OMG... didn't expect it to be this good.

Lovely graphic. Gameplay kinda unique it reminds me of crossy road? and that old mining game with a robot. I hated to spam my keys, making them "holdable" would be a nice addition. Otherwise nice job!

When you find an exploit you don't have to use it. In the end it's your choice to either use it or not.

Thank you for that information. The exploit with keeping one enemy alive and just waiting for resources was found earlier. Still thank you for reporting the bug.

I enjoyed it way more than I was hopping for. If it's truly your first good job! I liked the idea and actually was hopping for more games of this "speedrun" genre to appear on this game jam.

On the other hand there is a lot of things to learn from:

  • Mouse sensitivity is pain. Might work on your PC but slider for adjusting would be nice. Same thing applies for FOV.
  • Audio is very bad and repetetive, probably the weakest side of your game.
  • 3D is generaly not good for online web export. Not because of slow PCs but it just performs badly even on high-end PCs.
  • Objective is to "go as fast as you can" and yet there is: no timer, no reset button, no leaderboard and otherwise no actuall reason to "go as fast as you can".
  • Textures being applied wrongly. Textures that are streched are generaly not plesant to look at and I wouldn't recommend them.
  • I am able to spam really fast the "tongue mechanic" and simply finish the game in less than 30 seconds. Maybe delay could fix that? (just an idea)
  • Web page could use some love.

Otherwise I enjoyed the game :)

I don't feel like your sarcasm is necessary. You have to remember this is still a game made in short period of time. I've tested the game with dozen of people and we just didn't catch this bug/exploit.

Thank you for your collaboration and I'll do my best to fix any bugs anyone finds and properly reports.

Well... If you found an exploit I am sorry for that. More informations would be helpfull, maybe how you did that? Did you play the web or download export?

Thank you! Well the theme is optional so I wouldn't count that as something bad but still thanks!

Very game

I want you to see I've taken your advice.

Changed controls to your liking. Also kranked up the difficulty after a cerain wave so you can't get so "good". Some other changes will also be comming...

Yea I am aware of these flaws. Still glad if you enjoyed the game.

Thank you, I tried my best. Was there anything you didn't enjoy about the game

I guess that if the "movement" and overall responsivnes was fixed it would be probably my favourite game in this jam.

I don't like visual novels but it feels wrong not to give other people chance to see your game. That's the reason for my rating of this game.

Thank you. Of course there is always space to improve but don't worry you weren't bad. The balancing of the game difficulty was... well... unbalaneced? The coop should feel more balanced.

Thank you.

I can't agree more, buit... the time management for this game was from my POV spent wisely on things that are important. I really appreciate your feedback.

Have you actually tried the local co-op? I maybe should have given up on that because now I seriously doubt that someone is going to return to this game and play it with a friend.

Honestly I don't know. I can see that the game looks gorgeous almost too gorgeous but it just didn't click for me. Maybe the unresponsive controls killed the vibe.

From my pov yea it is... maybe its the pettiness of myself beeing a programmer. Problems for me are the sloppy movement "WSAD" and the gravity beeing set as constant and not additive. Also my understanding is that it was supposed to be a fast paced game? But every mechanic feels like it slows me down. When I hook using the toungue I would expect to gain momentum not to lost it when I inevitably hit the wall.

Still don't take this as some kind of attack I just simply point out the things that seem obviously bad for me.

(1 edit)

Good job. I got scared actually. Atmosphere was craaazy good. Didn't like the lack of the sounds.

I wish i had my reading glasses on with 19x scope. Excelent concept. Hitboxes of the balls and walls are too unpredictable. Still good job.

The controls are soo good it's not very good.

Extremely gorgeous graphics. Programming side of the game is the opposite.

My ears broke, thanks! Graphics are great but for me it was spam spacebar and go side to side. Also the character could be a little faster.

Good idea, not very good execution. The missing sounds kill it for me. Also why is every graphic in different style?

Very yes

Very good looking game. I hoped I would enjoy it more for me the gameplay was very repetetive. The spacebar sometimes didn't work. But good job.

Loved the story and the book PAGE TURNING OMG... for a while I was just turning the first page.

Actually my first rating of 55555. lol.

For me absolutely excelent idea and use of limitation. I could imagine it as a "real" game. Loved the puzzle design. That's where things end. The graphics are really basic and the sounds are very repetetive.

Still enjoyed it.

I liked the concept but because there was no difficulty checkers, like I can't catch two fireballs launched at me it makes you feel powerless. Also I would recomend sticking to pixel art that is up to scale so everything has the same "style". In your game it feels that nothing fits together.

I don't get it. Animation funny tho.

I can see that not knowing WHERE the enemies are comming from is not ideal... BUT...

I think there are many things that I made to help you know they are comming:

  •  when wave starts:
    • "Wave incoming" sound plays
    • Number of current wave shows up
  • Everytime "princcess" is hit:
    • "Queen hit" sound plays
    • Screen shakes
    • Her health is displayed above her
  • Bottom line is used as a timer for when enemies are comming

Next time I'll try to make it more clear of where are the enemies comming from.  Point taken.

Thank you.

Probably the best implementation of theme and limitation. But the execution is poorly done :( but don't keep your head down ! learn and thrive!

Too silent for me.

I mean I hate the guy but I love him... <3

The missing timer and leaderboard are a crime.

This feedback was a lot to take from. It's great to see people actually take time to write a review. BUT...

I can't agree more on:

  • "controls" for one player are painfull
  • Limitation use was poorly implemented

Hopefully I learned my lesson.

Thank you.

Honestly I have no idea. But I like you already.
