oh wow that's even more impressive, I don't know how you fit it all in! I look forward to us both releasing the polished versions in the future :D also, I definitely hope to see you in another jam one day!!!

really really great little game, so happy I checked this out! it looked great, played well, and I think was a fantastic justification of the theme and object, better than most. I think they were quite hard in this jam, but you made both parts integral to your game and also very logically sound, so neither felt like a stretch just to tick the boxes! (for the record, I think that's totally fair to do that and again they were hard this jam imo, so no judgement to others, but it's very impressive to make a game where both feel intentional and well implemented)
the only thing I thought was missing was whistle sfx, but with all you managed to achieve in the short time, it's hardly fair to focus on that! if you ever decide to make this into a longer experience, I'll be sure to check it out :)
I'm so tired so I haven't played enough of this yet to rate (I will do so asap when I get up and play a little more in the morning), but I wanted to say that is is AWEEESOME ! very cool to switch between the characters and figure out what to do with their abilities.
also! very fun to see another game that uses a bird whistle :D I got quite excited when I realised hahaha, I was personally locked into the idea of doing that from frame one of the jam :P but yeah, really cool stuff! my only only gripe is that having the input be left and right mouse led me to ruin my progress many times by misclicking, but to be fair I am so tired and it's entirely a me problem
sorry I'm so bad at explaining things haha! I mean that you can only direct the jump in a certain range of angles, if that makes more sense? like, sometimes I would instinctually try and jump straight down if I got on the wrong sideways wall, but it would launch me slightly diagonally into some spikes. no worries if that still doesn't make sense, it is probably just a skill issue, and a cancel option definitely seems like the way to go!
ohhh no way that's such a fun coincidence haha! love that you've managed to improve so much on the style of game :D
I really really enjoyed this- great job! It looked amaazing and I thought the gameplay and freeze mechanic were very fun! I don't like to take the route of comparison, but it's undoubtedly one of the best looking I've seen. Since you don't feel satisfied with it though, I really hope you come back to this at a later date and bring it up to the standards you have for it, it's really too good to write off!! :]
this was very very fun I loved it! so happy I could check it out :D it looked great, and felt very fun to play! I also enjoyed the fact you get a choice between two freeze powers at the start, I felt it helped further justify the jam theme! also, any game that has thorns is a game for me (I am bad at gaming) B)
omg oh wow thank you so much!! no apologies necessary, it's impressive you were so active to have been stopped hahaha :') I appreciate your hard work in that regard, I'm sure it's meant a lot to so many people in the jam !
I'm so happy you enjoyed it, all those compliments make me so happy!! it's hard to express this well but I'm so joyous you went out of your way to download it, that really means so so so so much :D
I'll definitely keep up with your game if you decide to add more/ change stuff in the future. I'm so happy for you that yours has got so much traction, it's well deserved (both because it's a fun game, and because you've been so lovely and involved with the whole community!!)
I've generally been prioritising games with later submissions/ less ratings, but had really wanted to get to yours! glad I did, it was very enjoyable and fun :D I won't lie, I got locked into the dodging at first and forgot entirely about the whistle but definitely managed to get further when I remembered hahaha! so cool as a solo project too :D
Super fun game! I had a good time with this, you managed to think of a lot of cool puzzles for such a short jam, just as one example I liked [SPOILER: [how you had to utilise the fact the ice blocks slide]] in one of them! Congrats on your first game jam- I am especially loving seeing the work by people like you (and us) who haven't done this before
THIS WAS SO FUNNNN! easily one of my favourites I've played, so enjoyable and the visuals/ style are really good so it felt extra fun to keep replaying. loved the multiple endings, added a lot of replayability without it feeling like it was put in for the sake of it. challenging but doable if you keep trying! as with most people it seems, I started with a score in the minus 2000s lol
also super fun having the whistle be a boat whistle, and I love that it's a mechanic you can overuse too, I think that adds a lot :)
fun and lovely looking game! I liked the whistle being something the antagonist uses against you, and being a very active mechanic to when you can be out in the open. of course not everyone has made it an object the player character uses, but it still feels more unique in the way that it's used as an obstacle
I do agree with other people about the difficulty spike, partially because I did struggle for a bit to understand what parts of the level were dangerous haha! it was a fun challenge though and though I did get frustrated, it faded as soon as I managed it. very enjoyable! also this might just be me, but it took me a little while to gauge the range of where you can jump to. I get why it is limited the way it is, but if you don't get it right and only wanted to tap for a smaller jump, you just end up dying a little more than felt fun imo. I did generally do the fully charged jumps anyway so I was able to check my jump would work as intended, but I wonder if having the cursor change colour when it's out of range (before you press space) might make this feel a little better? again, could just be me though lol
I really loved how you combined the potential themes, I also really liked 'only one' and wanted that to win tbh (though I'm very happy it turned out how it did in the end) and I think the idea of the one action was super creative and cool! and again, looks fantastic and polished, you absolutely deserve the praise you've been getting :D
Very cool!! I loved the presentation of this and it was engaging and enjoyable. Great aesthetic!! I liked how there were variations on the virus minigames, it kept it more interesting (though I do wish there was some sort of punishment for doing them badly- like missing the buttons/ pressing while it was set to 'wait'). I did also have some lag issues, but it was quite minor even though I did all upgrades, and I managed to complete the game just fine!
Super happy I checked this out, congrats on managing to pull off such a polished looking & complete little game :D
wow thank you so much, that’s such a huge compliment from someone who isn’t really into platformers! I’m so so happy you had a good time with it and liked the concept!
I hear you with the graphics hahaha that’s definitely a worry of mine too, with our roles and skills it never would’ve been amazing regardless, but I was sad to have run out of time for backgrounds/ a good cover thing for the front page/ a better menu specifically! was just very down to the wire hahha so we had to do what we had to do! but thank you again, I’m so happy it didn’t prevent you from playing and enjoying it :D definitely would love for you to check out the completed version whenever that happens
and yes that’s the end of the game :’) another time issue sadly hahaha
Thank you so much for the compliments and feedback :D I’m happy you had fun with it! Seconded with the music haha, when things got a bit tough, hearing the first drafts/ ideas for the soundtrack really hyped me up and motivated me through the last day!
Also very much noted with the up bird, seems it turned out very broken! We have some limitations to the freezing/calling mechanics that should help with that for the future, so I really appreciate you and others who have pointed out the extent to which they’re needed hahaha
wow omg that’s honestly such a compliment that you’d replay it, thank you so much!! that really makes me so happy :D
true with the up birds though hahaha very unintentionally broken, we do have a few limiting features in mind that might fix that in the future haha (some that we just didn’t have time to implement, and some that we’ve thought about since hearing feedback)
Thank you so much aaaa!! Buzzing at the art & music compliments hehe :] Yesss the birds chirping is an intentional part of it, our music guy (llamajacob) is insanely talented! We even still have a few bits we didn’t have the time to add in sadly (but definitely is motivation to complete this in the future haha)
yesss definitely agree with the whistles, we originally wanted one for each of the 4 birds, and a separate freeze one but again ran out of time :’) I’m glad to hear people point that out though, because that’ll definitely be a priority in future & it’s nice to feel we were right in wanting to do that!
I'm sadly awful at describing stuff so maybe Meowpixel can help haha sorry, but personally I do that level with just the one bird in the screenshot (albeit lower down). Thank you so so much for checking the game out and for the compliment :D I really loved your game, and best believe I WILL be defending my reign haha
random thing to point out but I enjoy the freeze being because of shock rather than the more literal alternative! even if it's functionally the same, from what I see a lot of others (including mine) took that approach and so yea I wanted to point that out, yours is less obvious but more logical haha (not that the logic matters in all of our silly little games, but it felt nice)
SO COOL! happy you managed to get it in just in time haha (was shocked to see anyone submitted after us!).
I played after tutorial was added so I didn't have the troubles others did, the only bit I got stuck at was the blue room because apparently I just didn't acknowledge the hint on a certain (no spoilers here ofc) object ?? I'd say maybe it was glitched and didn't show, but as soon as I used the solution spoilers it worked so I might just be silly :')
Sometimes jumping to a freeze frame wouldn't save everything correctly but I think that's just the nature of making something (esp something so ambitious and clever) in such a short period of time haha. So impressive!!
I also got a little thrown off by the guy in the empty room and struggled to accept that it actually wasn't anything but yeah just wowowow how did you do this in such a short period of time?! The tutorial definitely made it a v enjoyable and complete experience
