Build With Your Words: The AI Builder is Here!

You can now use the power of AI to bring your ideas to life. There's a new "AI Builder" panel right at the top of the UI.

How it works is simple:

1. Describe your idea in the new text box. Go on, be creative! "A small red car with yellow wheels," "a bridge over an invisible river," or "a green spaceship"—give it a try!
2. Add your API key. The builder uses Google's Gemini AI. You can get a free key from the Google AI Studio to get started.
3. Hit "Build with AI" and watch as the bricks appear in your scene!

It's still experimental, so consider it a creative partner that can kickstart your building process with a solid foundation.

More Control, Less Hassle

This update isn't just about the AI. I've also added a bunch of quality-of-life improvements based on feedback and to support this new feature:

• Choose Your AI Model: You can now select from a list of different Gemini models. Some might be faster, others might be more creative. Once you enter your API key, the list will show you what's available.
• No More API Key-Pasting: The app will now securely save your API key and chosen model in your browser's local storage. You only have to enter it once!
• Easy Cleanup: Added a "Clear Key" button to remove your saved key, and a "Clear Scene" button in the Controls panel to instantly wipe the build area clean—perfect for starting a new AI creation.

How to Play

Be the first player to reach 1000 points. Points are a combined total from your melds and the tricks you've won.

The Gameplay 

A round is played in two phases:

• Phase 1 (Stock is Open):
  1. Play a card. You do not have to follow the suit that was led.
  2. The highest card wins the trick.
  3. If you won the trick, you get to declare melds for points.
  4. The winner draws a new card from the stock, then the loser draws.
  5. Repeat!
• Phase 2 (Stock is Empty):
  1. The rules become strict! You must follow the suit led if you can. If you can't, you must play a trump card.
  2. Play continues until all cards are gone. The player who wins the final trick gets a 10-point bonus!

All points from the round are tallied, and a new round is dealt until a winner is declared!

What's the AI Teacher Mode?

Ever wished you had a friendly Go expert looking over your shoulder, giving you tips as you play? Well, now you do! The AI Teacher Mode is an optional feature that provides real-time feedback on your moves when you're playing against another player (Player vs Player) or against the AI (Player vs AI).

Its goal is simple: to help you understand the impact of your moves and spot potential mistakes before they cost you the game.

How Does It Work?

When AI Teacher Mode is active, here's what you can expect:

• 🛑 Blunder Warnings: If you're about to make a move that the AI thinks is a major blunder (a big mistake!), a warning will pop up.
  • It'll give you a heads-up, like: "⚠️ That move could lose about X points... Are you sure?"
  • You can then choose to "Confirm Anyway" or "Try Different Move."
• 🤔 Nudges for Sub-optimal Moves: For moves that aren't quite blunders but could be better, the AI Coach might give you a gentle nudge.
  • You might see a message like: "🤔 That move loses a few points. Consider these alternatives:"
  • Sometimes, the Coach will even highlight a few better spots directly on the board (marked with 'A', 'B', 'C')!
• 🌟 Praise for Good Moves: Made a great move? The AI Coach might let you know with a "🌟 Excellent move!" overlay. Keep it up!

Customize Your Coach!

We know everyone learns differently, so you can tailor the AI Teacher to your preference:

1. Enable/Disable: Find the "AI Teacher Mode (PvP/PvA)" toggle in the Settings menu.
2. Sensitivity Levels: Once enabled, you can choose the AI Coach's sensitivity:
   • Beginner: More frequent feedback, sensitive to smaller mistakes and nudges. Great if you're just starting out!
   • Intermediate: A balanced approach, focusing on more impactful errors and good plays.
   • Advanced: The Coach will mostly step in for major blunders.

Need a Break from the Coach?

Sometimes you just want to play without interruptions. No problem!

• During a game (PvP or PvA with the AI Teacher on), you'll see a "Pause Tutor" button in the "Actions" panel.
• Click it to temporarily disable the AI Teacher's feedback.
• Click "Resume Tutor" when you're ready for the Coach to chime in again.

How to Use It:

1. Open the Settings menu (button at the bottom of the screen).
2. Turn ON the "AI Teacher Mode (PvP/PvA)" switch.
3. Select your desired "AI Coach Sensitivity."
4. Start a new game in "Player vs Player" or "Player vs AI" mode.
5. As you play, the AI Coach will offer feedback based on your settings!
6. If you need a quiet moment, just hit "Pause Tutor" in the "Actions" panel.

This feature uses the same powerful KataNet AI that powers the computer opponent, so you're getting high-quality insights.

Probably needs a lot more optimization to unveil its potential.

It is a real neural net (model) that runs in your browser. For how strong it is must be proven, they say 2 dan. I still continue to look for more models and opportunities. It plays only on 19x19, that's why there are no other boards. Do try 2-dan it may be or may not be.. :)

You may set 1 000 000 iterations in options but what these numbers show is what actually was calculated, in this case:

9951 of 10000 moves. If you set low time you will never get to 1 000 000, it will stop on the time.

Now you can play purely "on time" set MCTS Iterations (Total) = 1 000 000

Time Limit per Evaluation Batch = 15 000

your move should be 15s (little more) (you will see how many iters your computer does for 15 seconds)

There was a problem with the time limit however, I have just uploaded the fix. Now I think everything should be OK.
Yes, less iterations more Dummy ;)

The limit is NOT total time it is Time Limit per Evaluation Batch (ms) i.e per worker

Try very low iter say 500, it finishes very fast. But the results are not what you would expect.

After that update I uploaded another, fixing an error that MCTS Iterations (Total) even set below 10000 iters was not working, now is fixed.
So when you set it to 5000 actually it had been doing 10000 iters.

I've updated the code. Now the game will always start in PvP on page reload.
You have to lower the iterations count as well, but under 5000 I don't think the results would be very promising... This thing became very CPU hungry!

That's a thing I didn't think of. I have re uploaded the file now...
