Hi everyone,

I’m an independent game developer working on a small 2D mobile runner game for iOS. The game includes normal mobile game features such as cosmetic non-consumable IAPs, optional rewarded ads, leaderboard/profile features, cloud save, purchase verification, and cosmetic ownership.

During App Review, Apple first raised an issue about sign-in/account requirements for accessing IAP-related content. I updated the app so users can continue as guests and access the game, shop, cosmetic purchases, Restore Purchases, owned items, and purchased content without signing in. Sign-in is now optional and only used for account-based features such as leaderboard/profile and cross-device sync.

After submitting the corrected build, I received a Pending Termination Notice under section 3.2(f), mentioning concerns such as concept/feature switching, hidden features, or dynamically changing app content after review.

This confused me because the app is a straightforward runner game and does not include webview-based content switching, gambling, external payments, hidden features, misleading functionality, or post-review concept switching. I have already submitted an official appeal through Apple’s App Review appeal form.

I am not asking how to bypass Apple’s process, and I am not looking for legal advice. I’m only trying to understand other developers’ experiences:

  • Has anyone received a similar pending termination notice after normal App Review feedback?
  • Did Apple ask for additional technical clarification?
  • How long did the appeal process take?
  • If your appeal was successful, what kind of explanation helped?
  • If it was denied, did Apple provide any specific reason?

I would appreciate any experience-based guidance from developers who have gone through something similar.
