Yes! If you can turn this into something similar to An Arcade Full of Cats and that series, this has a lot of potential! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2368470/An_Arcade_Full_of_Cats/

Ahhh. Zooming does reveal that bug. Unfortunately, I think that the action of zooming to see behind something is not intuitive to the player. In my mind, the foreground would only become larger when I zoom in, so I would expect anything behind it to become obscured.

I don't think that hiding bugs behind objects is a bad idea, but revealing something behind an object when zooming IN just doesn't feel right.

Again! Well done. This could easily be a successful game with more levels and play testing!

I really loved this style and the game itself. The vibes were PERFECT! I did have trouble finding a bug because I went full screen on a Mac and the aspect ratio made it appear off screen. The last bug was completely hidden no matter what angle I chose. The sniff mechanic helped show where it should have been, but I had to randomly click in the area until it "popped". It was the bug behind a branch of the main tree in the scene.

I hit 299 points! Excellent little game. If you do want to continue working on it, I think the fail sound is quite jarring, especially at the higher speeds XD

What a hilarious and addicting experience!

I can't claim that I got all the bottles, but I absolutely loved the silly singing. So good!

I really liked this idea and the feel of everything. I do feel that it was difficult to get enough time and deal enough damage without a fire rate upgrade. The upgrade might be in the game, but I never lasted long enough to see it in my four plays.

My recommendations:

  1. Make sure that players can tell when they are hit. I knew when a ship was hit, but it wasn't always obvious when it was my ship or an enemy ship because the sound effects all sounded the same. Some visual feedback like a blinking ship might help.
  2. Increase the upgrade rate in the game. Especially for a short competition like this, it is good to get people going early and power them up with fun mechanics before they move on. Or, fudge the randomness on the upgrades to guarantee they get something more useful for early gameplay.
  3. I am sorry you didn't get to do music. But this type of game would really benefit from even some royalty free music.

I really enjoyed the game. I felt like the difficulty of the enemies rose faster than my power did, but I loved the design and idea.

Well done!

An excellent start to a fun little game.

I think the communication of what the player is meant to do can be handled a bit better, but I really enjoyed the controls and simplicity of the tasks.

Trying to go and fetch Red when I needed him to watch me was a bit tedious, but not too bad. I didn't quite understand the fail state where I was caught "still" doing something.

With the cone of vision from the Boss, I expected that I was supposed to be avoiding it, initially. Maybe there can be tasks that you are not meant to be doing and you need to complete those, too while he isn't looking.

I didn't really know what I was supposed to do in this game. I appreciate that it's a first for you, so try adding some story or explanation for what the goal is and what the player is supposed to accomplish. Being unable to move the character diagonally when the world is arranged isometrically and at an angle really messed with being able to move through the pews.

Well done for a first game. I can seethe effort that went into it. If you keep up the work, I'm sure something like this could be quite nice to play.

I absolutely loved this! It was well executed and fun. The audio was quite amusing with the little quacks and the platforming was just the right amount of challenging for a Game Jam.

Well done!

Really fun! I found myself disappointed when the game suddenly ended

I hope you can make a little mobile experience out of this and polish things up while adding more levels. A really nice idea.

Thank you so much for checking it out! I'm glad the polish came across strong. I expect to develop this a bit further for my wife and share that here as well.

Really well animated and eased. Loved the fluidity of everything.

I think the only critique I had was trying to grab any fast-moving critters. If I had the ability to pause time or slow time, that would make things much easier. Maybe when you hover over a running emoji, time can slow for a bit.

Really well executed and beautiful.

:D My wife said the same thing! She was sad that she couldn't use her skills on more puzzles.

I'm happy you enjoyed it. Please come back after the voting period to check out an expanded game. I plan to have more puzzle types and many more levels.

You had me at exponential! You lost me in audio.

I'm sure you already knew, but that audio gets on the nerves fast.

Well done with so little time and such purposeful art and direction!

Coming into this Jam, I knew this type of puzzle game was going to be everywhere. No one has done it as well as you! Well executed and well played. I love that you have the option of using crates or spawning another self to hold buttons for you.

Very creative and accessible.

The music resetting each time I failed got old pretty quick, but I loved the concept and simplicity of the controls. An excellent time waster and addicting to master, I'm sure.

Super polished!

I really liked your sound design and aesthetic. Well put together and delivered.

Yeah, I think my feedback comes from the perspective of a Jam player, where everything is played kind of quickly.

If I was sat down with the game for longer, I would probably agree as my knowledge would improve with each run.

Thanks for coming to check it out!

I can't take much credit for the assets, but I'm glad you appreciated the atmosphere. Pretty proud of the Myst comparison :)

Thank you! I really tried with this one.

That's an excellent point. It is a bit harsh and repetitive if you aren't able to spot the difference.

I made the assumption that you would only hear it once in a while since choosing wrong sets you so far back. I also failed to make the setback part obvious, so perhaps people are choosing items randomly until they figure out the mechanic.

Thanks for trying it out and leaving feedback!

I'm glad you did! I'm a bit sad I wasn't able to provide a proper ending in time, but I loved putting this initial demo together.

You hit the mark precisely! I made sure everything was functional over anything.

I see now that a brief monologue from a mysterious disembodied voice would have helped a lot in the context of a Jam, but I didn't manage to get there.

Thanks for trying it out!

I think the first few levels could really be simplified to ease the player into how this works.

I'm not much of a puzzle person. I like the concept and design a lot, though.

Really clever mechanic! Tough to master, but fun to do so.

Well done!

Very clean and well made! I didn't quite understand the timer on screen until later on. If you continue to develop the game, maybe the doors have a gauge on them and that shows your remaining time before they open.

Overall, excellent!

It appears this won't work because the submission is just a bunch of project files, not a build of the game.

Thanks for trying it out!

I meant to have a bit of mystery to the game, but it seems that for a game Jam, a bit more explanation is appreciated.

I've added a blurb to the description to help understand the goal, as it seems a few people are lost at first.

Thanks again for leaving a comment! They're always appreciated.

I appreciate you trying it!

It's not a jump-scare, per-se, but if you're willing to do another run, there's a little something after level 6 you might appreciate ;)

Thank you so much! For an extra audible treat, try resisting the looping hall by walking backwards ;)

Thanks a ton!

I grappled with whether to add a little blurb to the beginning of the game to explain your goal, but I kind of wanted the mystery of the two mirrored rooms and looping hallway to drive the player's curiosity.

Aww thanks! I hope I can work on it a bit more and dive into more mechanics once the voting stage is over.

I hope your Halloween revisit will be a more polished experience :D

Hey, don't worry about things you couldn't fix in time. It's part of what makes a Jam.

I think you guys did alright with explaining everything and I just hoped to provide some tips if you wanted to develop the game any further.

Bravo!

Beautifully simple! That car mini game and grocery mini games are nearly impossible, though :(

I loved the music and the message so much!

I like the idea. The execution was a bit flimsy and took a bit to get the hang of. I think if you really worked on the navigation and "wrapping" mechanics, focusing on what makes them fun, this could really be a great game!

A nice little sandbox! I liked the idea and potential of this game. Well constructed and allows for  a bit of fun. The upgrade runway felt short, and I ran out of places to put my loopies, but I could see the potential.

An excellent little town builder!

I didn't quite understand the strategy initially, but it really came together when new buildings were unlocked.

Perhaps, if you continue to develop this game, allow players to look ahead at buildings they haven't unlocked yet? Just to see what they do so that they can plan.

Awesome idea, awesome music and sound effects. Well done!

I have a huge problem with your game: it is too addicting! Why did I spent so many hours getting to the end!?

The music is amazing and somehow didn't get repetitive. I was nodding along the whole time.

Excellent submission. 10/10

This is so tight!

I felt a little disappointed by the handling in the beginning, but the upgrade system made me realize what the goal was. Awesome idea, awesome execution, and really fun to master. You had me dashing through saw blades over and over again until I got the timing just right!

The music is excellent. The sound effects are excellent. The gameplay loop is confusing. I like the idea and I understand filling in what you just saw. Perhaps it would work better if the game paused to "quiz" the player before it continued and executed the player's input.

Good job getting a good game out into the world!
