I'd like to clarify that my objection to this change isn't based in "porn addiction"; I am, for the most part, asexual, and only play erotic games if the non-erotic content is interesting to me. Basically, I "play it for the plot".
Itch.io has always been a place for independent artists to share their work when it can't get published or approved for mainstream sale. Bending to the whims of people whose interests lie in censorship and who's ideals are based largely in bigotry is out of touch and, to be frank, cowardly.
While I empathize with the need to receive payment, I expected better of Itch.io than immediate compliance, and would like to take steps to ensure that this unfortunate change is only a temporary stain on the site's name.
I do not want to see Itch.io fall down the path of censorship and conformism.
