Yep, exactly! I self-host the server myself! 

And yes, the Playdate can actually communicate with the outside world! I made a simple API on my side that the game connects to. It stores the scores and then sends them back to the game so I can display a global leaderboard.

So you definitely don’t need to be on the Playdate Catalog to do it! 😄
