Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun making this for pico-8. I really love the limitations because it gives me something to work with. Unlimited art and audio gives way too much freedom sometimes for me.

No problem! I love getting to respond to people about my games, especially if they seem passionate. I do want to try coming back to this game sometime soon but for now I get a break because the jam is over. Thanks again for your comment!

Thank you so much! I really wanted to make a PICO-8 game for this because I've been having fun with it lately.

I'm honestly not quite sure how to describe this game either lol. I know Sokoban tends to have per-tile movements and a player character or something so I'm not sure if this counts, but I really don't know what else to call it.

There were some levels I just couldn't solve either! Mostly because I would get impatient and mess everything up. Restarting when you mess up is very important but especially early in a run you can't afford many resets. I think to best fix this the first few resets per level should be free.

I also would have liked to add more variety to the levels but I was busy while making the game and couldn't come up with much more systems in the time I had. I think what I would have most liked is to make varying difficulty level sets, so say you could select 8x8 puzzles with 5 moving blocks as your starting setup and then the whole run would be like that. Also, I could have made it ramp up from the beginning of the run, so you're guaranteed to get past a first few easy levels and then you start to hit harder ones.

It's also always a struggle to add variety to random or procedural generation like this because it risks having some levels that are way too easy and some that are way too hard. It's already a problem with the simple level gen I have now but it would get so much worse. I know there's a right way to do it (look more in-depth on the possible level layouts you can get and how easy it is to go from any board state to any other), but again I struggled with time there for what would work best.

Thanks again for you detailed review! I'm very happy to get feedback like this.

Very neat game! Looks very nicely polished for a game jam game.

You can only lose 100% of your money, but you can gain 10,000% or more. Fun goofy little game! Let's go gambling!

Sorry for yapping ahead of time I had a lot to think about from this game. Very nice game!

I like this concept but I had some trouble while I was playing :(. A lot was unclear at first because I didn't know quite what the goal was or where to go. I also took a bit to find out that you could equip the weapons to your follower guys but that may have just been my bad. The game did appear to crash around after I killed the temple guy and then upgraded once after that, not sure what happened there.

I would have loved to see a bit more emphasis on the arrangement stuff because either I messed something up or it was just like that but they were only using the pursuing mode as I was playing so the layout I created never meant much.

I do really love the idea overall though! Adding spinning to an existing genre like this is a super cool base idea. And the mixing in dungeons and quests feels like it could be expanded and work super well. I also do quite like some of the art (mostly the props and such with outlines). Did you make it yourself? If not I'd love to know where you found it.

Keep up the great work! I worry that I sounded a bit harsh here but I just want to offer the advice I can, it's really a great game! It's always awesome to have a game where you can control a ton of guys.

One last idea ("wow this guy's still yapping?" yeah I'm sorry), if you update this I think having a way for the guys to die and respawn could work super nicely. Then they could even leave holes in your formations that you need to account for.

A truly wicked wizard has no care for magic. Nice game! I somehow never even thought about making a game with a revolver, so I'm glad other people did. This could make a really good full game if you keep working on it!

I really like this idea! The climbing between layers as I pushed blocks was especially fun to figure out and use. I'd love to see more levels using that more in-depth!

Also, is that character a Kenney asset? :D I love Kenney's art.
