Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Very fun game! The levels were all well thought out, and the timeline was a cool idea; it especially helped that it showed when you hit each button or died. Good job!

Very fun game! The visuals and audio were flawless. I never found out what the mutat-o-tron did-I beat the game without being able to figure it out. I think the platforming would be better with a "fake shadow", which just extends below the player so you can see where you land. Overall though, one of the most polished entries I've played!

Cool game, I loved the graphics and the game was well balanced! I also loved how the upgrades were actually reflected in the character model.

Great game, especially good visual and sound design! The DNA mutation system made a lot of sense, and the game was a good length and difficulty for a jam game! Good job!

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you had fun with the puzzles!

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked the animations and the puzzles!

Thanks, making it easy to play was definitely one of my priorities!

This is one of the best games I've played so far! It's like a more complex version of 2048, but so much combines to make it work: the addition of walls and trees to make movement less predictable, the fact that the mutations always start with full hp no matter how much health the animals had, and the incredible pixel art and audio! Great job!

Very good visual effects, especially the camera movement! I also liked the music and sound effects. Good job!

Incredible game! Everything made sense, and you followed the theme very well. The controls felt good, and the animations were top notch. The only thing that could improve it in my eyes would be more enemy types, but the mutations do a lot to add to the variety.

truly the unbiased comment of all time

Thanks! I wanted this game to give some of the fun of figuring out Rubik's cubes, but without the extreme difficulty (I used tutorials to solve the cube lol). Glad you enjoyed it!

Alright, I did a second run, 9:56! (I don't know if you have to talk to all the cubes, I ended up doing it)

I also used a different browser this time, and I can confirm that that was my main problem: all the lag was gone! (The double jump timing also seemed easier, but that also might have just come with practice).

This was my platformer: https://noahmakesjunk.itch.io/a-little-time-to-cool-off-post-jam-edition. I hope you enjoy it, it ended up being quite a bit more difficult than I intended while making it lol.

Very nice game, I struggled with the aiming though. The shooting had great visual effects!

Thanks!

Such a funny game, I enjoyed it a lot! I especially loved the sound effects.

This is perhaps the most creative game I've played in this jam; very unique take on the theme! I enjoyed it very much, but it was very difficult; a more in depth tutorial would have been nice (it took me a while to realize it was read left to right), and maybe a way to access the alphabet more easily so you don't have to go through menus every time. This game also would benefit greatly from audio, so you can hear how the word is pronounced, but I understand that that would have been a very large undertaking for only 9 days! Very good game overall!

Thanks for playing it! I definitely wanted to try a more unique take on the theme.

Very fun game! Incredible art, UI, and sound design! The story and dialogue were adorable as well. Personally, I didn't have problems with the lack of jump control midair, I thought it was a mechanic similar to Jump King. The backtracking was a nice touch as well, it didn't feel forced or boring. I felt like I was playing a fully polished steam release while playing this! I finished the game 100% in about 22 minutes, but I'm coming back to speedrun it >:)

My main issue was that certain jumps seemed to require very precise timing with the flap, namely in the part where you talk with a cube after stomping (I can send a screenshot if you would like). I also had a few glitches (I spawned underneath the platform in level 2 once?) and some lag spikes (which probably have more to do with my computer/web browser than with the game). These are all very minor issues however!

As a side note, this reminds me very much of my first GWJ game, which was also a precision platformer/rage game about a bird climbing up a tall level–but it was nowhere near as polished as this!

Very satisfying audio! The controls felt intuitive, and the tutorial was good, I was able to understand the strategy quickly. It's a really cool and creative idea, and overall a very fun experience!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Easy controls and readable UI were priorities for me going into this jam, so I'm happy they worked out!

Thanks! The last level is definitely the trickiest–it's hard to wrap your head around the way the two circles move at the same time. I had to figure it out again each time I tested it lol.

I can definitely see the similarities with Yoshi's Island, too!

Thanks for playing it! I'm glad you had fun with it!

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

Incredible visual and audio design! Super creative UI as well, and a very cool take on the theme! Great job!

I loved the animations of the player and enemies, but the gameplay was very simple and got repetitive quickly because of the similar enemy types. Good job though, with a few changes this could be super fun!

Very nice art, especially the parallax backgrounds. However, it needs some effects for the shooting, as I couldn't tell if it was doing anything. Also, I'm not sure if the damage increase upgrades do anything, as I could kill every enemy in one hit–did I miss something?

Very good art, I had fun with the game! The enemies seem to aim semi-randomly, which made it kind of hard to dodge them–but I'm not very experienced with top down shooters, so it's probably just a skill issue lol. Good controls and cool level design, and the UI is incredible!

Fun little game with nice art! I also loved that your choices made a difference.

Very good art and animations! It's also very impressive that you managed to get cutscenes and dialogue working in the short timeframe. Metroidvanias are some of the most difficult games to make in a short game jam, and you managed to do it!

The gameplay could definitely use some polishing: the basic attack could use some more reach, as I kept getting hit by contact damage while trying to attack enemies, and the jump could be less floaty; it was difficult to land on platforms consistently (but I did notice you added coyote time which helped a lot with the platforming!). I'm not sure if being unable to turn around mid-air was a design choice or accidental, but I think that triggering an attack or dash at least should turn you around.

All in all though, a very good metroidvania, especially considering it was made in only 9 days!

Incredible visual and sound design, and the animations were amazing. Good work!

I had lots of fun with this, it feels like a top-down roguelike version of Fruit Ninja or swordfighting in Wii Sports Resort! Very nice visual effects on the hits, and the physics based nature of the sword works really well because you can parry attacks either by blocking them or by hitting them. I took almost exclusively fast hand upgrades so I could just spin it around extremely fast lol. My only problem is that there isn't much variety in upgrades or enemies, and the gameplay started to get repetitive after a while. All in all though, very good game!

Thanks!

Thanks for playing!

Thanks! I'm glad the tutorial worked well to teach the mechanics, that's something I was worried about during testing.

Thanks!

Very good art and enemy designs! It's impressive that you managed to make a roguelike deckbuilder in this amount of time. The idea of cards mutating mid battle was very interesting as well! I struggled at first trying to figure out how everything worked, but once I did it was fun.

Great art and polish! There were lots of cool synergies and the enemy designs were great. Good balance between planning ahead of time and mid battle decisions. My only complaint is the lack of audio.

This was tons of fun! Very nice platforming controls and a good art style! I loved the story too, the ending cutscene was very fun.
