yeah, the buildings rising at the end represent the trauma of growing up, and the ethereal sound when everything fades to white represents death. Whether the death of the player character is real or metaphorical is open to interpretation:)

The game is supposed to close when everything fades to white, but there might be a bug there

Edit: fixed the bug! The end widget makes it clear the end is happening

Thanks for ur interest it means a lot!

Well with 48hrs to make a game I really didn’t focus on the shiny animations and sound design and focused on the meat of the interaction in the spirit of brutalist web design principles

Also the simple 2010 web is mostly silent except when you ask it to play something

Lastly I wanted to make a game that works for everyone and I know how browsers handle differently sound autoplays so an absence of sounds was sure to make things work:)

I like the usage of brutalist web design! I too submitted a game delving into the nostalgia of a simpler web…

Couldn’t play the game at the jam so i just played it now, i love this interactive poem!! I don’t know if it’s on purpose but the phone text content is editable, so I wrote text messages I wish I had received before moving on to the rest of the game… (⌒_⌒;)

Yesss, that was part of my references! As well as Hack This Site and Cookie Consent Speedrun

I loved the end loop, as a former corporate employee this game really hit close to home… Glad I chose to “leave”, both IRL and in here!
