Interesting game, very intuitive so easy to pick-up and play.

This is a cool website, thank you! I think I could spend hours tickering with this.

Yeah, the way I did it is a bit hacky, you use standard CSS text-shadow and box-shadow for the UI, and then canvas shadowBlur and shadowColor for the game grid.

Since it's all just simple geometry, I didn't actually build a real glow effect or shader from scratch, if you catch my meaning.

I am glad you enjoyed playing, it is encouraging to get such strong feedback for my first ever game.

Music and sound effects will be my next major update once  the game jam is finished, then I will even experiement with your idea of having ghosts and power pellets perhaps in a third game mode or just adding them to Classic mode to start to try and fet the balancing right.

Thank you for the feedback, remixing games I think will become a theme for me. I am already looking at making a defence game which combines the wall building aspect of Rampart 1990 with block dropping mechanisms of Tetris 1984  to crate a two phase game where you build then defend.

SFX will definently be the next major update I make to the game. I will aim to create something which captures the nostagic feel of a sound chip used in an old arcade machine. I want players to feel the instensity of the game increase as time counts down and to get a satisfying ping when they eat food or complete a level.

Glad you like the aesthectic, I've always like the idea of the 'glow' you get from CRTs on old arcade cabinets, its ever so slightly synthwave in style.

This was the first game I've made, the aim was to go for something simple and achievable to build.

One design principle I wanted to embody in the game was an intuitive experience, requiring no instructions like like the first level of Miyamoto's Super Mario Bros.

Thanks for checking out the game. Have grown-up playing arcades on MAME 32, or even a classic Nokia, I have always wanted to remix old games expand their potential.

I actually don't know how to do sound yet as this is my first proper game, but it is definently a feature I will add in future implementations.
