Thanks for the kind words.

That's exactly what I was hoping to explore — dropping the player into a cricket situation and making the decision the interesting part. Really glad the quick daily format worked for you.

I'll have to check out your APS Cricket Online Multiplayer. Real time is certainly a different approach. The game of cricket gives us plenty of scope!

Hi everyone,

I've just released NEXT BALL..., a small browser-based cricket decision game.

Rather than playing a whole cricket match, you're dropped into a situation already in progress — perhaps a difficult run chase, batting with the tail, or trying to defend the final over.

Each ball you choose your intent:

  • Batting: Defend / Build / Attack
  • Bowling: Contain / Pressure / Attack

Then you live with what cricket gives you.

The idea is to make the decisions simple while still making the situation matter. Sometimes the sensible decision works. Sometimes it doesn't, because... cricket.

There are three ways to play:

Daily Challenge — one situation and one official attempt each day
Another Challenge — unlimited short match situations
Long Form — set up your own batting chase and choose how difficult you want to make your afternoon

Games are deliberately short — usually only a few minutes.

This is the first public release, so I'd be interested to hear how it feels, particularly from both cricket fans and people who don't know the sport particularly well.
