Thank you so much! Enjoy the font, loooking forward to see it in action 🙏

That is such a cute cozy game, I for sure spent one or two hours just trying to get a good sparkling wine 😄 It plays a bit like a board game with little figurines. It does get repetitive after a while, but because it's a jam game this doesn't take away from it imo

AstraX is a massive 2D space sim developed by a single person. It's still early in development and because it's been growing at a rapid rate, I need your help with a playtest! Version 0.7 is going to be out on the 22nd December and I have a first buggy pre-release build ready. You can download it at softmask here. You can find the the itch page here.

What's new in 0.7 (coming soon)

  • saving/loading games
  • a new discovery system (works as a wrapper around existing game actors)
  • creating and customizing user profiles
  • better UI for resource trading

Please let me know what you think and how your experience is in the comments! Thank you 🚀

A few notes about the game:

  • create your own spacecraft in the spacecraft editor
  • find asteroids, mine resources, find trade stations to get rich
  • start from scratch and map 6 different types of procedural generated galaxies, each carrying at least 10.000 stars
  • explore realistic solar systems featuring stars, planets, moons, asteroid belts, asteroids and space stations
  • celestial bodies are realistic, inspired by real stars and planets modern astronomy is currently aware of

Thank you so much! Let me know once you do so I can link & boost 🚀

Colonel, im trying to sneak around, but the clapping of my wands keeps alerting the golems...

Jokes aside, its not working if I try to run in browser on firefox, it gets stuck fading in the title screen, just as a FYI. Will download instead, can't wait to play later!

Oh gosh, thank you so much! Happy you like it.

Many more awesome features to come indeed 😁

Being able to wield multiple weapons is such a neat feature. Can't wait to play ne coming versions with the boss fight you got cooking.

You are welcome btw!

Use this thread to post your general feedback in. Suggestions are always welcome. Please keep it constructive and polite! Thanks.

Happy reporting!

In order to run AstraX, unzip the archive to a destination of your choice (your documents folder is recommended), then double click on astrax-desktop-x.y.jar.

Can’t launch AstraX?

Like minecraft, this game is based on java technology. That means you need the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to play it. This also means the steps necessary to make minecraft and AstraX run are the same.

First, ensure you have JRE installed on your computer. As of AstraX 0.5, JRE 8 is required. You can get it at:

Java.com

It is sufficient to run the JRE installer and play. If you are still encountering problems, you can try add %JAVA_HOME% to your system’s PATH variable as described in this useful guide on java.com. You may also post on this forum or contact me using the following email: support (dot) astrax-game.com.

this game is soooo much fun

ooo I sprytewood now with better sharbles need to check this out

Player characters, movable platforms, enemies, items, items you can interact with, should catch the eye somehow (either via contrast, color or HUD markers), these are basic UX/UI guidelines. Maybe play around with contrast and saturation, playing with different red hues? E.g. make the player neon red while the background has a slightly less saturated red?

This is a very cute game. Sometimes it's better to move on from a project like this, hope you learned a lot!! Maybe you'll get back to it or remake the game idea later for the nostalgia :)
