They're just extra things for the player to do, but in the future they can have some unique interactions

That's not a bug or issue in the game.  The vending machine's output depend on the amount you put in it. The higher the amount, the greater (and often stranger) the result. That's why putting a 500 coin don't yield you 5 outputs as if it's five 100 coins.

Major parts of the game will be overhauled in the next update, so stay tuned! :D
