You may have played it already but Chants of Sennaar is a (very good) recent game that tackled the same kinds of problems

It's a bug-filled and extremely frustrating mess

Not sure why you feel the need to defend them when their behaviour went way past indefensible a long time ago. It's been two months since any developer communication on this forum (or anywhere else) and it takes five minutes to write a few sentences about what they're working on and when they expect to provide another build. It's safe to assume that at the nine year point of this project they're not working on it so hard that they can't find that amount of time.

It's been 50 days since the last developer post on this forum, and it's coming up to six months since the last Kickstarter update. Please could we have an update?

Regardless of how long it takes to fix things, please could you give us updates on what's happening? Going eight weeks with no information whatsoever doesn't fill backers with confidence. A fifteen-second update post once a week shouldn't be unreasonable for a project that's nearly eight years overdue.

Agreed, but that doesn't mean anything needs to be a secret.

From the Kickstarter pitch: "The project diary will be dated and time-stamped as everyone involved documents their thoughts and feelings throughout the game development process."

That's the direct opposite of not being allowed to know how many people are working on the game.

The number of developers working on the project surely isn't a secret? Won't their names be in the credits?

Unfortunately I have to agree, the current experience of trying to play the game is one of repeated frustration rather than enjoyment. This is absolutely nowhere near a state where it could be released to the public without a very negative reception.

Yes, it shouldn't be possible to highlight or select any hotspots while dialogue is playing. Clicking should just always skip the current line.
