Hey, sorry I took so long to respond! I work at Pepsi and it has been so busy the last few weeks. 😅 I appreciate the comments so much and do actually plan on continuing work on it, so I've been really happy to see it does resonate a little with a few people. I appreciate the controls feedback, I go back and forth on being "eh, okay," to just not happy with them. 😅 I definitely prefer mouse play to touch, I think having to "take your finger off the stick" to press a button to hover or change formations is a bit of a handicap.  Anyway, I will 100% check your game out, I'll shoot you a comment tomorrow!

I have sooooo much polishing I want to do related to movement, I am very unhappy with it currently, to be honest. Thank you for trying it!

Hey, thanks! I've definitely been thinking about music a lot. I always liked games that gave players some control over what they're listening to while they play, whether it's just more tracks or even being able to upload your own - I actually have been working on a bit of a modding framework because I also love games that allow mods and being able to customize music was absolutely one of the reasons I started thinking about how to integrate modding.

I also have been playtesting a bit with mountains and ejecting - I had the same thought about the mountains, and their imperfect and sometimes slightly unfair Circle Colliders I utilized initially here, and wanted to maybe allow a player to Eject, lose all followers and aircraft, and be a little pilot running around trying to survive long enough to either find another plane, or more likely within the existing framework as far as ease of integration, get a level up that acts as that event and upgrades you back into a plane.

Rambling here. Thank you so much for the comment!

I appreciate the fast response! Really not wanting to win anything or compete against anyone with an unfair advantage so I've no problem adding a transparency note. Just liked the jam, theme fit, finally gave me a push to share what I've been working on. But I don't want to look like I'm taking advantage of anything and am the master of overthinking :)

Joined the jam before that was a requirement and I totally get it but not sure I should add my project now. I actually started in May and I've worked on it a few hours a week since. I'm not an experienced developer and have never released a project but was getting to the point where I thought I could at least share a demo and then this game jam launched and I thought, oh cool, takes the pressure off sharing something as an introvert when a bunch of people are, haha. I've actually put in a ton of work since, anticipating releasing it for this jam - but now it feels unfair, even as a complete novice. Not that I feel I'll "win" anything, just that time makes such a huge difference with these things and maybe some aspects of mine will be more polished than others, but only because I had way more time.

I should probably skip this one?

Hello, sir or ma'am! I'm curious how you're feeling about this specific topic lately, maybe porting to Godot for open source friendliness? This is an absolute beast of a base. I'm sailing at night right now with Black Sails playing in the corner and ooooh I could just tinker with adding stuff to this game forever.

amazing! Maybe think about providing a torrent link for it?

Fantastic - any chance of uploading the demo from here to Steam as well? Either way, thanks SO much for the reply, and will be waiting (im)patiently! :)

Stupid question - is there a downloadable version of this demo/game? It's so fun but I live on a boat with internet that cuts on and off quite often and it keeps interrupting my playing this. Just curious and thought I'd ask. Wonderful little project, can't wait to pick up the full copy in a year!

It's really, really good. I don't have a lot of time - at all - for games, but I loved the style, and so did my 9yo daughter. It was such a sweet blend of game and interactive story. Really loved it. I write and draw and code and model/animate so I'm always interested in finding new ways of telling the stories I have and really enjoyed their approach, gave me a lot of ideas and thoughts on my own game dev ideas.

I had also just came off a Stranger Things kick, and so...they meshed well (to me). ;)

I shared this on Twitter also, hope you don't mind

I can see this. Great idea.

I was thinking about that last night, how we can be on so many levels - technologically, dimensionally, etc. That's an interesting game, played it right after my daughter and I went through Oxenfree. I love the interactive story games. Your idea sounds super cool.

Regarding shifting timescales, the idea reminded me of Superhot, that FPS where time only moves when you move.

Time is fun to play with.

(1 edit)

I think this is a fascinating idea and I'm imagining the main character as a starship. And when/if you hop out, FOV/time change.

Love the idea of exploring different scales and perception of time, as well. Very fun idea and when we're talking about exploring something the size of our universe, time is definitely one of the biggest limiting factors so it's neat to play with that and imagine how other intelligent life might perceive the flow and "problem" of time as well.

Yes and yes!

Was also imagining a game of star maps. You have so many seconds to click on specific objects/stars/whatever before time runs out. You succeed, the next map has less time or more objects to click on, whatever's clever.

RISK with aliens fighting for control. Grey aliens, Reptilians, etc.

(Thinking about joining and doing a project with my 9yo daughter, hi!)
