I'm an author/artist who just became a noob gamedev. This jam came along at a great time because I just finished up my first project, a kinetic novel, and I had a vague idea for a more expansive second project, so this will encourage me to focus on it. Since I'm the one doing the writing/art/coding I thought it might be fun to do a placeholder page and devlogs with concept art and character profiles and whatnot. I know I won't be able to finish it fully by Oct (especially since we're selling our house and moving rn 😅) but my goal was fully written and coded, complete, but probably with sketchy art.

My question is this: it seems like the standard is to not make the page live until there's something to download bc of how Itch's algorithm works, so would that be a bad idea? (also if anyone wants to jump in I'm totally open to that -- where I'm going to struggle is inking/coloring sprites and illustrations, I have a kind of ambitious idea for a character design situation, and I was going to use 3D-rendered Daz backgrounds and royalty free music) I'd also just love to make more gamedev friends!!

Here's some concept art of the boys in my game (premade cuz this idea is technically a prequel to a full length game I hope to make someday) to kind of give you an idea of my skill level. (and you can always check out my first project, it's free :3) Thanks for reading my rambling.

Thank you!!

I've done a couple of relatively successful crowdfunders and didn't know at least half of this stuff. The cool thing about the checklist format is it let me keep track of things, yes, but also let me clearly see and plan ahead for what I can and can't do, since I have limited time, energy, and funds. Crowdfunders don't run themselves -- you *have* to put the effort in to get the word out and this will be an invaluable part of my future campaigns.

Thank you so much!
