This is definitely fun already. I look forward to seeing future versions!

I fell in a hole and didn't die.
It was fighting something up and to the right, maybe on a hill. Then jumped without clearing the hole, then stepped right in. Once in the hole it just walked forward endlessly in the dark. It was using a staff and fighting ranged.
Had to close the game and reopen to keep playing.
Edit: It fell in the hole again at the same place.
I have been really enjoying this for a few days, thank you for making it.
The economy feels a bit off. There should probably be something a bit more active to maintain. Maybe multiple fleets? Maybe active fishing while voyaging? Not sure.
After the first night, I ended up with fairly strong schooners. After the second night I got pearls. Pearls pretty much eliminated the purpose of doing anything else. Their income is far better than anything else I am doing, with no risk of it failing. I doubt Galleons will change that, maybe East Indiamen, but it seems like it would be a week of logging in a couple times a day just to get those.
Also, it might be nice to have a pirate hunter mode where crow's nests are used to look for pirates, instead of hiding from them. At least the ability to stop hiding from pirates once ships are strong enough would be nice.
Probably done for now, but look forward to checking this out again sometime and seeing what you have done with it.
Interesting start of a game.
A few thoughts:
The tutorial shouldn't be mandatory, nothing here is really new for an experienced gamer.
The timer should probably stop when you reach an exit portal. Watching it time out because the portal loads slowly is annoying.
On the level finish screen watching the seconds (and other score) tick by that you just played is annoying. Either speed them up drastically, or just show the total, no real reason to count them. Currently, it takes almost as long as the level itself.
This can be skipped, by hitting the button.
If you start commenting down here, the game becomes deselected and you can't move around anymore. Everything else seems to function, choosing talents and directional firing, but not movement. Only way I figured out to get back in is to load the web page.
I like the development aspect of this and I like the strategy aspect of this, but dealing with a randomized restart when getting into the strategy side is a bit annoying.
I would like to see an option that just stops the leader from dying and lets me expand until I fail, or maybe that holds a larger amount of territory and troops between leaders.
