I saw this game on my feed and, while I can’t rate it since I didn’t enter this jam, I just wanted to share that I thought it was fun and creative! And I like the high score system :)

Plus, any western song with a whip sound effect is guaranteed to make me laugh XD

I enjoyed this more than I expected. The ongoing narrative made it really relaxing, and I found myself interested in the character and lore of the world. The dialogue sound was really pleasing as well. Kudos to your team!

Great job on your first game jam! This has a lot of creativity behind the premise and how it weaves through the environment and mechanics.

I found the gameplay a bit confusing at first so maybe consider introducing the different effects incrementally so the player can learn and master one thing at a time.

Happy jamming and keep up the good work!

Fantastic job! <3

It’s a shame this game doesn’t have more ratings! I enjoyed it a lot and I can tell there’s a lot of love put into the overall game feel. Kudos on a great job! <3

If you’re interested in playtest data - the part I found most difficult was the double wall passage with deadly plants on either side, right above one of the checkpoints. It took me about 15-20 tries to get up, and once I died further on and realized I’d have to face it again, I decided to call it quits at that point. More frequent checkpoints or opportunities to refill hearts might be helpful.

Thanks for playing! Different types of creatures prefer different foods. For example, Stephens prefer pizza, so pizza gives 2x as much health as other foods. This differentiation is currently represented by the orange and green health symbols, but it could definitely be made more clear with some tweaking.

From what I remember, I was on my way to the lever after the lava where the rock platforms would move in and out from the walls. I fell somewhere along the way and the spinning started. I was able to trigger the “you died” canvas by holding R but it put me back in the same spot and was still spinning, so maybe it was a checkpoint? I noticed that whenever I hit ESC to get control of my pointer back to scroll through the game’s page the spinning would stop, but then when I clicked back in the spinning would start back up again, so it might be an issue with how it’s reading the mouse position?

I’ve never worked with mouse-based cameras tho so I haven’t a clue XD best of luck!

Very solid game! You did a great job on the art work and weaving bits of lore throughout the environment. Kudos <3

Never before have I found watching grass grow so entertaining XD

This was a lot of fun! At first I was like are you serious, one blade of grass at a time?? But that effort made the long-term efficiency SO much more satisfying. The range of power ups were great and easy to understand from the icons.

Also, great SFX choice of the grass being cut. And I liked the animations that counted each item at the end. Kudos!

Neat premise and pretty intuitive gameplay! I was a little confused when I saw that I got 4/5 seating placements correct. Are some guests OK with more than one option?

Great pixel art too btw! Kudos to your team <3

I think this is a nice implementation of the theme and the main mechanic feels pretty unique. I’m impressed that almost all of the assets are original! You did a great job building out the world.

I found the first part of crossing the stone bridge the most difficult of what I played, because the targets were pretty small and I kept slipping off the edges. Otherwise, I enjoyed the process of looking for all the levers and was able to find all of them on the second level.

Unfortunately, I got stuck in a bug on the way to the last one that the manual respawn button didn’t fix. Adding a gif because I found it a little funny XD (my game’s got its own bugs, so i figure it’s best to just laugh and learn)

Kudos to your team on making a cool thing! And don’t take criticisms to heart, we’re all learning as we go :)

The visuals are dynamic and I really like the effect of tilting the ID to reveal a holograph! You also did a good job of making it clear how much hype and chaos are going up/down with each choice. If you expand on this after the jam, I would love to see maybe a “manner of death” stat on the ID cards to help inform how chaotic/hype the person is.

Kudos to your team on a great entry!

Love getting to play a ghost hunting game that isn’t scary! I got stuck on the 2nd level, just couldn’t find the last anomaly even with a lot of looking. Overall, kudos on your game!

Absolutely killer game feel. This was very creative and I enjoyed it a lot, major kudos!

Ohhhhh gotcha!

Nice work! I enjoyed the voice lines a lot, and the strategy was pretty easy to figure out after a few tries. Having a visual cue for which parts of the floor are squeaky was a great choice.

Only possible bug I ran into was on maybe my 3rd try when I went over to the sink after getting my phone and the wallet just wasn’t there, so I let myself die of dehydration haha

Kudos to your team on a great jam entry!

Edit: Oh, and I liked the camera movement that mimicked tiptoeing around! That was a nice touch :)

Wow, this game has something really special! I love the concept of a puzzle platformer in which the platforms themselves are part of a greater puzzle. You did an excellent job of teaching the player and progressing difficulty, and I felt really satisfied upon completing the game. Great music too. Kudos! <3

Despite the gameplay being a little buggy, I think this is a really stellar entry. It’s unique yet intuitive and the art is great! I liked the choice of music too, really made it a cozy experience. Kudos to your team! <3

Excellent visual and sound design. There’s a lot of little touches that add up to create a really effective ambiance that looks nearly commercial-ready.

Gameplay was solid. I just missed the note in the description that coins are what you need to extend the map so I didn’t know how to proceed at first. An in-game cue for that would be great!

Also, I felt bad every time it looked like I was shooting my wife since she was standing in the way between me and the monsters haha. If you expand on this after the jam, maybe consider having her stand right “behind” the player (opposite the way you’re facing) so she’s not in the line of fire.

Big kudos to your team and best of luck on all future projects!

You have a great art style and I love the visual effects!

Is the game no longer available? I see that others have played it but the Itch page says “the developer has not uploaded a game yet” image.png

Nice work! I like the visual layout of the gallery wall. It was fun and intuitive to figure out what each effect was and to work with it. I’m not the best at precision platformers so I got stuck in the area with a ton of tiny paintings, but I was very relieved the first time I fell off that I didn’t have to start from the beginning. Not being able to see the player in between paintings definitely makes it more challenging, but it does add to the sense that you are “inside” the painted worlds. Kudos to your team on your creation!

Thank you for all the great feedback! <3

WOW! This is incredible!! Fantastic work <3

Congrats on your first game and jam! You did a great job :)

Excellent game! I love the concept and overall design. Great job!

Evil pool noodle is def my favorite enemy. great job implementing so many cards and buffs! (also the final boss transformation was super cool)

This looks really cool! I couldn’t quite figure out the gameplay so a tutorial of some kind would be helpful, but I’m really impressed you put all this together in a week! I could see it being a full-fledged game

Beautiful narrative - almost had me tearing up at the end! I enjoy this style of linear, objective-based gameplay and you set it up really intuitively. Great work!

Very creative! Hurt my brain a bit but that made it even more satisfying to beat a level. The art and music are also fantastic. Well done <3

I think you did a fantastic job of implementing this theme in a unique fashion! The simple phrase “The worlds inside the paintings are your birthright” immediately piqued my interest. You made something special and I’d love to see what your team can do with even more time <3

Ah, thank you! I was able to get through the whole game with that tip. Great work! <3

I’d love to hear what everyone’s favorite jam entries are so far! (Submitted by others, not your own game please 🙏)

For me, I especially enjoyed:

Really impressed with everyone’s creativity :)

If you go to the computer (next to the food crates), you can click the moon icon in the upper left corner to end the day :)

Yippee! Thank you for the feedback!! :3

The background music is actually supposed to fade out during each note pattern minigame :0 I’ll note the bug! I also wanted to add an “easy mode” for it in settings but ran out of time. I’m glad you still enjoyed overall! <3

Beautiful title screen and by god i love any game that lets me ride a horse! i struggled with the controls at first and kept crashing into stuff but by the end i'd managed to shoot 2 targets :) kudos on your hard work! super impressive for 1 week on a solo project. i thought the wind sound when you sprint was a nice touch

Wonderful concept and execution! Never thought I'd find myself invested in the character development of a loading bar XD I loved all the little puzzles <3

Wahhh thank you, i really appreciate that! ; u ;

and noting the bugs!

Great implementation of the theme into gameplay! I love how the three levels combined in the boss battle. Shame about that taco :( true tragedy. pixel art is gorgeous tho

Edit: Oh! and the "I'm Josh the slime, but you can call me Josh" made me laugh so hard XD

I enjoyed the gameplay for this a lot! the way the furniture animates on to fit each room is a nice touch, and i got a few laughs from the dialogue and poses. got just a little stuck on the last one because i didn't realize dining rooms could be next to each other. overall kudos on making a fun game!
