2nd ending is a 50/50 chance once you refuse to summon the demon. Try refusing a time or two.
It doesn't work if you rollback the current save, it works if its a fresh save, or a save you load from before you're in the basement.
I plan on adjusting it in the future so that if you get one ending, youll guarentee the other option when you try it again. But I didn't realize it was a problem people would run into until the demo came out!

Hi! I've been trying to contact support for the last 5 months regarding my withheld taxes!

I have been having this problem for the last 3 years, where it is reported that 24% of my game sales are being withheld for tax purposes. Originally, I'll admit I was quite stupid, and just did my taxes based on the 10-99's I recieved at the time. My 10-99's state I have $0 in federal taxes withheld, and I just assumed okay well womp womp I'll pay them out of pocket.
Last year, I noticed on a payout that there's a 24% tax withholding, and realized 24% of all my sales are being withheld FOR those tax purposes! That's been on there the whole time!
To quote an old post made here that has been since archived, this is my exact issue:
"If my payout is $100, $24 is being withheld by itchio as "tax withheld." To simplify, we'll ignore the other fee categories. So I receive $76 as my payout. The 1099 I get at the end of the year SHOULD say $100 in royalties income with $24 in federal tax withheld. However what I get says $76 in royalties income and $0 in federal tax withheld. Which then leaves me to pay an additional 24% of the $76 I received, and the $24 that never reached my bank account isn't reported anywhere." - kmbrlei
My main concern is I have a considerable sum of money just sitting in the" itch.io tax vault", and I couldn't find any replies to the original post as well as figure out a solution. I'd love to just get this money back since I've had to pay my taxes out of pocket, and have the 24% withheld removed generally so I won't have my money taken for no reason. I know Itch.io's support team is very busy, but this issue hasn't been resolved in a really long time.
