Me and @ProsciuttoMan released our The Newgrounds Summer Jam 2026 submission, Return of The Fishmen. Just today it was awarded 2nd place.

It’s a short Zelda-like experience with a dozen of secrets, in which you need to stealthily search for three maidens by singing and listening to their response.

It’s a little thing, but we did everything so it would still feel like a big one. There are dozen of secrets hidden around, as well as some hidden interactions based on the way you complete the game. It’s my debut as a coder, director, writer and level designer for a project of that scope.

DELIGHTFUL. DELIGHTFUL. DELIGHTFUL experience. I’m really fond of the way you handled The Creatures and the overall presentation is so competent it makes me cry of joy. Keep cooking.

The space of this game to make it as intentionally annoying as possible is immense, I had fun MAKING IT HARDER FOR ME BY PLAYING WITH MAX IMPULSE MIN FRICTION on high parkour sections to cheese it out.

Overall it’s a very awesome concept, but of course if you’re planning the full release someday it would be cool to either polish the stats interaction or delete the arrow key controls. The whole jump from arrows to mouse is very awkward, and the game requires a lot. This gripe doesn’t affect my rating though, the game is very neat.

Insane style and grace. For that reason it is pretty enjoyable. Envy your character designs (in a good way) !! They are great and awesome and you have nice shoelaces.

Though you seem not to have much faith in a project, but I’m sure you have a lot ahead. It’s a neat first dip.

One of my favs on this gamejam. Reminds me a lot of Perfect Vermin.

Seen you on progzyy’s stream. I really liked your game and the little nods and nudges around. The music is awesome too.

Might be one of the best submissions on the jam. I’m really fond of style you were leaning to. Simply gorgeous.

And very Strange, indeed.

Had it more heavy controls it would go straight into Another World spiritual successors. The best ones even. I would give the full game 12/10 if you’d give it this kind of a direction.

Overall : VERY novel, and very saucy. I really liked it.

Authentic and really eccentric. Atmosphere is nailed to the core. Made me realise perhaps I don’t really need an apple.

WOW. HUH. WOW. Genuinely blown away. One of my favs on this gamejam.

I’ve realised how eccentric this game was in its usage of colors, and immediately got that my laptop is not very good at displaying it’s colors.

I grabbed my SD OLED and like, manually rebinded all the controls to play it (because it seems there’s no gamepad support), but the thing is.. it was worth it. It was really worth it I really liked the whole thing and the wizard and you have an immaculate taste and some tangible sauce. Can’t wait to see more from you.

It’s pretty easy if you’ll look at three things - a block with a red smudge on the current stage, a letter on the screenshot and your own keyboard.

Delightful. Intro caught me offguard, therefore safe to say you did a good job. The game is awesome too !

I really liked the themes and execution. It’s pretty innovative in the way that Portal was.

I’m really fond of that one. The amount of effort spent on assets is immense, and I’m sure code was no different. It was a blast to play.

Also liked the main guy personally. He has that protagonist energy which nowadays feels almost ironic. Whether it’s intentional or not, I’ve sincerely enjoyed every line and their delivery.

Thank youu, Kaia! I’m pretty sure the way you interacted with the game is partly the intended experience. Y’know, excluding the destroying your keyboard one.

Sadly, we PLANNED on making the colorful levels at least partly playable before the main thing, but we were too busy with our own stuff to implement all of that in time before the deadline.

I shall rethink the whole concept again one day as the majority of people seem to be eager to play the garden as it initially advertised itself. Maybe as nosey’s journey 2.0 …
