FIXED Issue: After copying PixDither.aex into the Plug-ins folder in After Effects version 2025 on my PC, the effect did not show up in the Effects & Presets panel.

I restarted Ae. I restarted my computer. Still wasn’t there. I re-copied the plugin into the folder, I re-downloaded the plugin. I also tried all this in AE version 2024, same problem.

Then I saw in these troubleshooting threads for some permissions issues, so I looked again at the Effects & Presets panel: I clicked the hamburger menu in the top left corner of the panel tab and selected ‘Manage Effects…’

In the Effect Manager window I was able to toggle on PixDither by checking the Enable column checkbox. Then I restarted Ae one more time!

After that I could see PixDither for the first time in the Effects & Presets panel under Wunk Effects. Yay!

I want to log what happened - this issue is resolved.

The dithering effect does not render if I use Media Encoder. But it will render if I use the in-app After Effects render engine, same codec - mp4. The version is v23.6.2 for both the encoder and Ae. This may be a render settings issue, but I have not seen this happen before with other plugins.
