I just downloaded and ran it on real C64 hardware. Pretty cool game!
A bit more explanation is in order to understand what's going on. What is the player sprite supposed to be? An IC extractor?

EDIT: Take the above two paragraphs of the game description on this page and put it into the game. It will greatly improve playability. Also, add the game's itch.io URL to the game for future reference. Overall, nice project!

I must ask, is there more than one possible ending when you survive the night? Or is there a single ending at an extreme "cost" as the game puts it? I'm quite curious because I've replayed it several times attempting to make any possible difference.
Excellent game! I enjoy the setting, plot, flowing text, difficulty, and game length. I survive the night, but with a tragic outcome for myself. I hope there's a better ending which I just can't seem to figure out.
There's also what appears to be a bug in the game. It manifests in both the C64 and HTML versions. When at the top of the stairs in the hallway between the two bedrooms, going north immediately places you in prison.
