🚀 Mixtape 2000: The Reveal, The Release, and the Road to 2.0!
Hey everyone!
I am beyond excited to finally pull back the curtain on Mixtape 2000, a project born out of a love for the Y2K aesthetic and the golden age of digital music players. If you miss the days of neon-on-black terminals, custom skins, and visualizers that actually felt alive, this is for you.
📼 The Reveal: What is Mixtape 2000?
Mixtape 2000 isn't just another music player; it’s a digital time capsule built in Python. I wanted to create something that felt like a "pro" tool from 2004 but runs smoothly on modern hardware.
As you can see in the LimeWire Terminal skin, the interface is clean, data-rich, and 100% focused on your library.
💿 The Release: Available NOW!
Version 1.0 is officially live! You can download the standalone .exe (packaged for easy use) right here on the project page.
What’s inside V1.0:
- The Skin Vault: Swap between XP Silver Blue, Winamp Amber, and Bubblegum Y2K on the fly.
- Audio Precision: Full Graphic EQ with presets specifically tuned for that 2000s "Laptop Speaker" or "Heavy Rock" vibe.
- The "Vibe" Suite: Built-in Visualizers (Bars, Scope, Tunnel) and a Sleep Timer for those late-night sessions.
- Power User Controls: Full hotkey support so you can rate, favorite, and navigate without touching your mouse.
🗺️ The Roadmap to 2.0
We are just getting started. Here is what I’m working on for the 2.0 milestone:
- Mini-Mode Overhaul: A more compact "floating" player that stays on top of your work.
- Plugin Support: Allowing the community to code their own visualizers and EQ presets.
- Real-World Integration: I'm exploring ways to make the player react to external data—potentially even connecting to the robotics projects I've been tinkering with!
- The "ISO" Edition: A special downloadable disc image version for those who want the ultimate retro-collector experience.
💬 I Want Your Feedback!
Which skin is your favorite? Do you have an EQ preset you swear by? Drop a comment below! This project is for the community, and I want to build the features you want to see.
Hit play, stay retro.
